if you hear a clicking sound from under the seat when trying to move backward then its not the switch. check the motor instead

There is a plastic piece that holds the return spring for the switch on the seat back release. When this piece breaks, the switch can't indicate that the release is back in the lock position. You will have to take part of the seat apart to replace this piece. There could be something else causing this problem, but this is the most common.

SOURCE: I have a 2007 Volvo XC90 and the driver's power seat won't adjust. It won't move at all. Is there an override somewhere that can allow me to move it manually?

no try jumping at switch if still wont work motors bad.
