My 2005 cts won't start. replaced battery and started for one day. has not started since then. the key is stuck in ignition and had to use the release to get it out. gas and temp gauge does not work. anti theft light stays on. tried reprogramming key nothing happened. This has been going on for over a month. I have nothing to drive or anyway to get anywhere.
This sounds like something is draining the battery like a bad alternator. if you install a new battery the car will run until the car drains the battery due to a bad alternator or bad wiring, these cars are all electronic so without a good battery you cant open door or start, take a look at battery and if it is low or dead again then have the charging system checked.

HI, I'm reading your problem,
Let me explain something about your car.
2005 Ford Taurus, The key on that car has Chip inside of the key and receiver on the ignition switch,
Check if the key you are trying to use is Black and has a plastic head.
If not you need a key with that characteristics.
But if you have the right key, Remenber if you had drop on the floor, or hit with something,
Because some times they come damaged, with insignificat thins.
Remenber if you left the key close to a magnets like speakers.
If nothing aply at your case, you need to call a place Aloha Smith, they have the computer to program or reprogarm your key. IF not you can't start your car.
OK.. I hope this information work for you.
Thank's for submit yous question on fixya.com
SOURCE: anti-theft system
Read your manual or take it to the dealer. It sounds like it needs reset.....if this is a factory anti theft system, only the installer may be able to help you.
SOURCE: 2000 VW Passat won't start/car alarm goes off/stuck in anti-theft
My car, 2000VWPassat, is doing exactly the same thing as of Wednesday April 7, 2010. The dealer has been looking at it for 6 hours and they said they have absolutely no clue what is happening. They are elevating it to an "engineer".

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
It can be a disconnected or loosen battery connectors. As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you tighten the negative battery connector. Please do check the body ground to the body as well. If possible add more body ground and observe how it goes.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

you have a low voltage problem. either a bad battery or a brake in a wire somewhere. My sister had the same problem in her car. Had it to the gm dealer 3 times they couldnt figure it out. I put a new battery in, new wire from batter to starter, and a new altenater and wires to it. just by dumb luck i noticed the (+) wire from the bat to the fuse box under the hood was broke at the fuse box. Put new wire on it and 2.5 years later no problems.
