Saturn 2000 SC
Your system uses r-134a as the refrigerant. Freon® R12 was outlawed some years ago.
It looks like you may have lost your r-134a. You will have to get it replaced. When you do, be sure
to have an ultraviolet tracer dye added. This will be used to detect the leak you appear to have.
When the system is recharged, your mechanic can take a black light (yes like in college)
and check for leaks. If something has bump against an AC pipe the O-ring seals may be loose and would need to be replaced. The test will show it.
You most likey have a empty system or low freon charge due to a small leak.

the fan still blows when I cut the ac on...it's just not cold. and my boyfriend hooked a pressure guage to the low pressure valve and it was blowing into the red zone...so something is defintely wrong. :-(
Does the blower works on any speed or is it just not putting out cold air ?
I had the same problem. I had a full charge of freon. On the opposite side of the engine compartment from the A/C compressor is a A/C line. There is a pressure switch in the hose with 2 wires coming from the switch. The plug was dirty on mine. I removed and cleaned the plug, reconnected it, and viola ... my A/C works again.
