Open the drivers door and look at the side of the exposed dash. You should see a hand grip that you can remove. If not look under the dash, left side of the steering wheel and remove the cover to few the fuses.
You don't specify whether its just that you can't find the release catch, or whether the release catch is stuck / broken,
In the UK (Right hand drive car) the release catch is situated in the left (passenger side) footwell, within about a foot of the lower front door hinge. In a Left Hand Drive car, I guess this would be reversed (i.e. right hand side footwell). Pull, and it semi releases the hood. Next, walk to the front of the car, pull the hood up about 1" and insert your fingers about a foot left of center. Sweep to the right, and you'll release the secondary catch and the hood will be open.
However, if its stuck / broken, then ......
You need to work underneath the front of the vehicle - the idea is to get at the catch and release it with a long screwdriver flicking the catch to open the bonnet -or getting a grip of the cable if it is hanging loose ( i.e. broken ) then getting a grip of the cable with mole grips or even pliers - to pull and release the cable / bonnet.
Once the bonnet is open - you can deal with renewing the cable assembly, or greasing it thoroughly.

So only the passenger front window is out based on what you're describing. Or are you trying to say all the passenger windows are out? (you have three passenger windows)
I am going with just the front passenger being out and that neither the switch on the driver's door or the switch on the front passenger door work to control the window. It's rare that both switches would die at the same time, so that rules that out. Now you said you pushed the button and the window does not move, if you don't hear a sound at all, odds are the motor is toast, if you do hear a sound, then the regulator may be stripped or broken.
On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle,
arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the
panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want
to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to
get it off the window ledge. Pull back the weather seal and you'll be
able to remove the motor which will be secured down by a few bolts
"Take the trans pan off and it is there. It will take about 4 quarts of trans fluid to refil the trans." If the question refers to the engine oil filter, then it is located on the passenger side of the vehicle, just to the right of the engine oil pan. There is a suspension fork just under the oil filter, so you have to look above that or around it and you will see the filter. The top of the oil filter will be facing to the left, pointing toward the passenger side tire. There is a small flap on the left of the filter that you will have to push out of the way to get your hand on the top of the filter. I recommend jacking up that side of the car a few inches to get your arm in there. I also recommend using a FRAM filter, that way you can take advantage of the top grip feature so that you can get a much better grip on the filter and remove it very easily. Remember to "moisten" the gasket on the new filter before installing it. The Sonata takes 5 quarts of whatever premium oil you want to use, however, I cannot recommend a brand without starting an argument. I believe the car manual call for 5w30, but I have used 10w30 with no issues. Best of luck...
I believe your question is more to the point of "How do I get access to the battery so I can change it out?" It's ugly, but not THAT bad. Standing at the front of the vehicle, the battery is under the "electrical center" to your left, on the passenger side. You have to get some stuff out of the way to get to the battery... 1. Remove keys from vehicle 2. Remove the plastic shield covering the wiper motor and linkage along the top-left of the engine compartment. This shield is just held in place with metal clips. 3. Remove the stiffening strut on the left side. This is the large metal tube that goes from the left-rear corner of the engine compartment to the front of the engine bay, next to the radiator cap. 3 large bolts hold this in place, you may need a 1/2" breaker bar to loosen them, with a 13mm or 15mm socket. Slide the bar out of the "electrical center" (fuse box) and out of the vehicle. 4. Move the Electrical Center off to one side. Nearly all of the electrical wiring for the vehicle goes through this, so there are lots and lots of wires to shove out of the way. Make sure the main positive feed at the front of the box is insulated and won't touch any metal parts when you twist the box out of the way. You may want to get a bungie cord to hold the box off to one side. If you have to remove that main feed to get enough slack to move the box, remember that this cable end is HOT, don't short it to anything! Cover that cable end with piece of rubber hose or some other insulator. 5. Disconnect the Negative battery connection. This is the connection closest to the side of the vehicle. Usually uses an 8mm socket to loosen it. Whatever tool you use, make sure that you don't short it to the positive side of the battery. 6. Disconnect the Positive battery connection. There should be a plastic safety cap over the bolt. 7. Loosen the battery hold-down bolt at the base of the battery, between the two cable connections. 8. Lift the battery out of the engine bay. Now, you know why you should buy a good quality battery for this vehicle. Buy a cheapo, and you'll pay for more hard labor. :)

on the focus i believe it is on the passenger side of the engine block facing rearward about a foot higher than the crankcase(oil pan). It is very easy to access if you jack the passenger front side of the car up. Instead of jacking it up and relying on a jack while your under 1800 lbs i drive the right side of the car up onto a curb/sidewalk from a drive way entrance. This leaves plenty of room to get underneath and it is unlikely for the sidewalk to give out barring an earthquake. Also once you've removed the filter (I use a pair of old work gloves to get a good grip) make sure the rubber gasket hasn't come detached from the filter. If it has remove it from the flange where the filter goes or you will get leaks between the new filter and gasket and the old gasket. When installing the new filter open your jug of oil and slowly fill the new filter with oil this will take a couple of minutes. Also coat the new filters gasket liberally with new engine oil. Only install the new filter left hand tight meaning not too tight.
Have you tried substituting the drivers side switch for the passenger side switch and seeing if that works in case its just a faulty switch?
Other than that, if the window is right down then wrap some electrical tape around the jaws of a pair of needle nose pliers to protect the window glass from the metal jaws and then try to grip the top of the window and pull it up far enough for you to be able to get your hands flat on the glass to get it the rest of the way up
It may be safer to use two pairs and a helping pair of hands to do this to relieve as much pressure from the window as possible.
Either this or remove the door panel and push the window up from the inside.
I replaced the passenger side mirror on my 1998 Bonneville. (Thanks to VWmechanic for his helpful post re a 1997 Bonneville; my '98 was a little different.) First, remove the door panel, as follows: 1. Remove hex-head screw under inside door handle. 2. Remove 10mm screw located under armrest hand grip (to get at it, pop off the piece that covers the tiny courtesy light) 3. Using a screwdriver, pry off the panel. It's held on by several plastic, pop-off fasteners. 4. Remove the plastic red lock slider under the door handle. It can be pried off the wire slider. 5. Lift up on the door panel to release the top edge. You now have access to the inside of the door. 6. To get at the two bolts holding the mirror to the sheet metal of the fender, remove the plastic shield just under the bolt location. 7. Remove/fasten the mirror bolts with a 10mm. I could reach the front bolt with an 8" socket extension, but had to use a 10mm open wrench on the back bolt.
