Heater core burned out and I want to bypass the coolant hoses.

#1 Listen if you hear the blend door flap open and close if you do then working good.

#2 run car to normal temp and touch both heater hoses and make sure temp is similar if one is hot and the other warm then your heater core is clogged and most likely that can be the problem it build lime from having tap or well water in coolant system distilled water is recommended but who uses that.

#3 run car when cold with cap off @ 2k rpm and top off radiator. Then close cap and continue to rev @2k until normal temp if heater hoses are not equal in temp heater core clogged.

check heater core conection.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and drain the cooling system.
   
2. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core inlet and outlet connections in the engine compartment.
   
3. Allowing residual coolant from the heater core to drain. Cap the openings.
   
4. Working inside the vehicle, remove the lower instrument panel sound insulator and look for where the air blows to your feet.
   
5. Remove the heater floor outlet duct screws or clips and remove the duct.
   
6. Remove the heater core cover by removing the attaching screws and clips.
   
7. Remove the heater core cover.
   
8. Remove the heater core retainers and remove the heater core
   
9. Reverse order to install leaving the covers off at first then connect all hoses, refill and check for leaks before putting covers back.

If it is necessary to remove the heater assembly, the cooling system must be drained before removing the heater core.
When a heater core leaks, a new heater core is installed or the old one repaired.
Heater Housing

• The heater housing is usually under the dash and must be removed to gain access to the heater core.
• Procedures for replacing the heater core vary with the year, make, and model of car. It threfore necessary to consult the manufacturer's repair manuals for the proper procedure for replacement.

The heater housing is disassembled to get to the heater core. Heater Core

• Remove the access panels(s) or the split heater/air conditioning case to gain acess to the heater core.
• Remove the heater coolant hoses.
• Remove the cable and/or vacuum control lines (if equipped).
• Remove the heater core securing brackets and/or clamps.
• Lift the core from the case. Do not use force. Take care not to damage the fins of the heater core when removing.
• To reinstall the heater core, reverse the removal steps.

When the heater core leaks and must be repaired or replaced, it is a very difficult and time-consuming job primarily because of the core's location deep within the firewall of the car. For this reason always leak test a replacement heater core before installation.

1. Remove air cleaner and duct assembly.
2. Drain coolant.
3. Rotate engine forward on 3100 only.
4. Both heater hoses at heater core.
5. Right and left instrument panel sound insulator.
6. Rear compartment heat duct adapter bolt/screws and adapter.
7. Heater outlet duct bolts and duct.
8. Heater core cover.
9. Heater core.

First off, you want to drain the coolant until it is at a level below the heater core. Then you want to remove your glovebox screws and the entire assembly. It may be necessary to remove the far right passenger side kneepad retaining bolt/nut.Disconnect all vacuum and electricle connections.It's a very good idea to take some digital pix during the process to assure proper reassembly.Remove both heater hoses keeping track of which went where. Back inside look around for all the housing bolts for the heater/ airflow control box.If you have AC it is not necessary to discharge the system.Remove all the housing bolts(some may be attached from the outside. I cannot, from here explain the location of each bolt, you'll have to keep looking until you find them all.I did neglect to mention to remove any cable driven door connectors also, if it is so equipt. Put an old towel on the floor of the vehicle because there is inevitably going to be a spill of coolant. When the housing is completely free "roll" it out from under the dash as far as posible and you'll see the heater core opening cover. It will have the two hose tubes sticking out, you couldn't miss it if you closed your eyes...lol Remove the 5-6 screws and slide the core upwards. it's your heater core lines. the 2 lines that come out of the fire wall on the passenger side under the hood.

Try flushing the heater core with a garden hose.

If coolant can be detected inside the car, you need to replace the heater core. After it's replaced, the low coolant light should not come on after the heater core is replaced, and the system refilled. If it does, you need to check further. Go w/ the heater core for now, as it will fog up the inside of the car, and become a safety issue.
