Need to know how to replace the crankshaft and camshaft sensors on a 1996 jeep cherokee with a 4.0 V6 engine

why do that. guessing?
seems so to me, they never go and and never both at once.
so.. why not post symptoms, so we can work them and do test.
not guessing, called "diagnosis"
if guessing is your game, go to alldata.com and see them.

the 4L in uSA is obd2, and for SURE it will throw DTCS for
any CKP/CMP sensor errors, weak, dead or intermittant.
in fact codes 340 or 355 would set.

do you have a scan tool, if you want to spend money
that be first. for $9 whole bucks, you can have one.
and see all live data. and all DTCs, and all pendings and freeze frame data./

MY 95 jeep cherokee shuts itself down after about 3 mile going up a hill would it be the gear box 4l v6 it will shut off for about 4 hours then it will start again

Pretty sure they don't use a trans overheat switch on 95's What you are probably looking at is a crank sensor that is beginning to fail. I'd also check the fuel pump too as symptoms are very much the same except that right after shut down, if you turn the key back to run position, if the pump is bad, you won't hear it running. Best to get yourself a haynes or chilton manual so you can do the necessary testing. Crank sensor is the most common problem but cam sensor and coil can also give similar symptoms and because of that I don't ever recommending that you replace anything just because I think it may be bad Always test first. Parts are expensive!!!

your fuel pump is in you fuel tank.
you will have to drain the fuel then undo your fuel tank support straps and lower your tank then at the top of your fuel tank you will have to loosen all the bolts and remove your fuel pump from inside your tank

1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport bogs down

I just posted a simular resonse in another post. What is sounds like it that the fuel pump is starting to go bad. When it heats up after use the pressure drops not pusing the full amount of fuel. Whenits cold it works fine until it heats back up 10-20 mins. remember fuel in the tank helps cool the pump so keep it soewhat full but sounds like the damage is done. your probally gonna have to replace it.
