Jeep shakes very bad sometimes. I can hardly hold the steering wheel when this happens. Other drivers think my wheel is about to fall off cause it shakes so bad

Have someone check your brake calipers for sticking and holding the brakes applied. This can cause overheating and they will try to stop the wheel, causing the violent steering wheel shake. Also have them check the constant velocity(CV) joints, which if bad can make steering stiff.
Shaking wheel can often be from a worn bushing or steering component. I'd begin by having the wheel balance and tire condition checked. If the shake is severe it's called "death wobble" which is generally caused by a worn track bar end or mount or bad ball joints. Trading in a vehicle because it has a front end problem sounds a bit radical to me but you know your vehicle better than I do....If you want to trade it in, that's your decision.
I have an 2002 Escape. I can think of three possible issues:
You're using the wrong key. Duh.
You have a bad ignition switch. Extremely unlikely.
Your steering wheel is pushing against the steering lock. I just went out to my Escape to confirm this on mine. This happens sometimes if you park against a curb, or parking block. The steering wheel is pushed against the lock pin, and the key can not be turned.
Trying turning the sterring wheel back and forth. There should be some play or shake. If no play, turn the steering wheel a little harder in either direction until it moves a little, hold it, and try the key.
For the disbelievers, this can happen on most cars. Go to your car and hold some pressure on turning the steering wheel. Try turning your key from off to start.
If it shakes when driving at certains speeds, then it is likely that you have a wheel that is bent or you lost a wheel weight. If the shaking happens more when you step on the brakes, then you could have a warped brake rotor. You can ususally tell if its the brake rotor given that hte car will sort of pulse when you push hard on the brakes.
Dodge is known for using rubber bushings in everything. They don't squeak like the poly ones do but they do rot after 10 or 15 years and cause clunking noises like you described. More than likely your clunking is coming from a tie rod which is what connects your steering wheel to your tires. Crawl under the truck near the wheel and look for the steel bar that hooks up to the back of it. Have a friend turn the wheel back and forth, or grab the bar and give it a hard shake. If there is any play, the bushing is shot. You can replace the tie rod ends yourself using the old ones to compare but it will still need an alignment, so I usually let a shop do it. New poly bushings will cost a little more but you will never have to replace them again. A good alignment shop should charge less than $200
First thing to check is air pressure, Second is to have that wheel put on a spin balance machine to see if the tire's steel bend shifted,or the wheel got bent,or a weight came off. If all those check out,Then check the steering for any loose parts, The last is check the front alignment.
you have a warped rotor which is causing ball joint.tie rod end.idler arm(if equipd) probs.bad rotor caused by sticking caliper which over heated and warped rotor.and also bad tire or wheel or both.put the wheel on a balancer and see if its bent or if tire has belt blister.replace rotor, caliper, wheel bearings and ball joint and any other loose or worn susp/steering gear.if you just replce rotor , going to happen again but worse damage.poss breaking pwr brake booster from vibration. gino R
