1998 Toyota Camry V6 Auto transmission loses power

Hi, Momentarily (0-5 seconds), and only occasionally, my camry will loose drive power, then recover. The speedo drops to zero (although still traveling at speed), and the transmission seems like it has kicked to Neutral. I regularly, @12 months flush fresh fluid, and all else on the engine seem good, vacuum lines etc. Is this likely to be a solenoid or something like that, which I can test and replace? Thanks for your assistance. Bruce

Check the EFI main relay base in the relay block forward on the left fender well. On Camrys sometimes the base for this relay becomes faulty and gives intermittent connection. See here p279

If your losing compression then I suggest doing a compression test and then following it up with a wet compression test to determine whether the problem is in the valves or pistons.
Wow one tune up in 122k miles jerking not really an ignition thing more like a fuel thing. If Compression test results are good then do a full tune up even replace coil packs or distributor ( which ever is applicable) and replace fuel filter.
These vehicles are not known for major engine problems (blown engines bad valves etc).
Big with transmission problems if its a 6 cylinder not the 4 cylinders.

changing your VSS is easy , the hardest part is finding it...look around the housing near your CV axles..the differential in there near there is a 8 or 10mm bolt holding it in witha wire connector on the end...if you pull it out you will see a plastic gear on the end of the sensor.... YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

You may have a sticking pressure regulator, or it may have a weak spring. Also, a stuck or sticking 2-3 shift valve or throttle valve.

1998 Toyota Camry. Why does my car lose power while driving, then an hour later it starts back up? Replaced fuel pump minus that filter, air filter, fuel filter.

Didn't I answer this yesterday?

You need an auto electrician to connect a professional grade scan tool computer, and set it to record live data and take it for a test drive. It will record exactly what goes wrong when the car loses power. That will dictate the fix. This type of fault you can't just guess.
