Door Locking Problem

I have a 2000 Porsche Boxster and when I try to lock the car using the key fob it immediately unlocks itself. I checked the complete car to ensure all the doors, bonnet and boot is closed but the problem persisits. I press the key fob to lock it, then a split second later the car unlocks and the horn beeps twice. I assume the beeps are to do with the alarm not setting. If I try to lock the drivers door manually I have to hold the key in the locked position to enusure the drivers door is locked as I can feel the lock trying to open itself. The passenger door is not locking and I am stumped to what is causing the problem. Any suggestions would be most appreciated

key fob or inside switch will not lock doors. also key will only lock driver door, only when held forcefully.

Hi Bgood,
I had the same problem. I locked and unlocked the car with the engine run several time utilizing the dashboard lock button. That fix my problem.

Porsche key fob

If the key had gone faulty, the key code must be re programmed on the vehicle computer. This can be done only using a PIWIS tool, available at the dealer or at a qualified Porche garage.
Try also the following reset:
turn ignition on,
turn off.
remove the transponder from the column
push any button on the fob within 6 seconds.
This procedure will reset the key synchronizing again with the vehicle computer.

Key fob not working

does the led on remote flash when pressed, if so try to initialise remote by inserting key in door barrel or ignition lockthen turning key, whilst doing this press and hold lock/unlock button. the led on dash should flash to show the key has been initialised, then remove key and test operation. If none of this works then a new remote and coding to car is needed by your nearest dealership

Hi I have a porsche boxster 1997 and my passenger door wont open at all, when i go to unlock the driver's side unlocks and the car beeps twice. Please help

Might be the central locking system. Try using the key in the door (rather than the remote control) to deactivate the security system. Also make sure that the center console is completely closed (this is part of the central locking system).

I have a 1997 boxster and the central locking does not work, the doors all lock with the button on the dash, but the key fob wont work and if you lock it with the key it only locks the drivers door?

I connected a cigarette lighter (male on both sides) between my car and another car. Do not start the car, just wait until the battery has a little charge. The front bonnet should open allowing you to replace the battery. You will need to recode the radio (http://www.a2dvoices.com/realitycheck/porsche/ )

Alternative: Some newer boxsters have a red power post new the fuse box.

Porsche boxster 1999 model keyfob not working. have replaced battery but still inoperable.what do i have to do to reprogram

i presume little led in fob flashes when button pressed. Key needs to be initialised. Put key in door lock or ignition barrel and press unlock button watching led on dash, this should flash. remove key from lock, remote should now work

Doors won't lock

This could be a faulty driver door latch assembly as the internal switch inside is open.

1997 Porsche Carrera S --- Central Locking System Battery went dead while on travel and now the key fob for central locking is kaput! Is there a sequence to re-sync the fob to controller?

Hi,

Maybe you can try this procedure to resyn your key.
Initialization Procedure.

1. Open central locking system using the car key.
2. Get into the car and close all doors.
3. Using the car key, switch the ignition lock briefly to position "1" and then switch off again. (Please do this switching within 5 seconds or otherwise the system is not ready for initialization.
4. At the remote control key. Press the "OPEN" key (->) and keep holding.
5. When holding the "OPEN" key, press the "LOCK" button three time.
6. After pressing the "LOCK" button 3 times, release the "OPEN" button.
7. If the initialization process is sucessful, the door will lock and unlock immediately to confirm the process.
