Most likely lifters rattling. Under torque? How are you with your past maintenance?

Testimonial: "maintenance is kept upto date, that it to the toyota dealer and have oil changed every 5,000 miles. I have ask them to check out the noise however they don't have any clues."

Larry Find a product by BG Corp, called "MOA" Oil Additive. I believe it will handle your problem, especially if the dealers are at a loss for help. i use it in all my vehicles and a couple of them have over 200 thousand mile and still running great. Check Amazon or Ebay for it. I buy it by the case and have for years, it should be in the $12 a can range. All my family now use it regularly and believe in it. You don't have to change your oil again, just warm your engine and add a can. I'll bet on it to help. Steve

Loud clicking dash

Possible HVAC blend door motor skipping over the gear drive due to a jammed blend door. Also it could be valve train noise in the engine, I would need to hear it really.

Problems accelerating

the engine tickover is too slow when the engine is cold its running on cold start, ie:choke,, after it warms up the engine slows down this is what is causing it to stall in gear,, get some one to hold the brakes hard on and with the engine running in gear ajust the tick over till its reving at 750 - 850 rpm the revs will go up a bit when its out of gear,, before you pick a gear to go into push the foot brake down to stop the car lurching,,,

Transmission issue

You need to have the transmission flushed and have new fluid put in. As oil warms up, especially old oil. It loses viscosity and will not lubricate the gears as it should.
