Wont start, gages go crazy

My 1999 jeep grand cherokee will not start, i put the key in and nothing happens, when i take my key out all the gages on the dash go up and down and spaze out and its starts making a clicking noise. my electric locks will not work now eiter or my keyless entry? any ideas?

    check that all battery and cable connections at engine and starter are clean before going anywhere else with this.

Sounds like you need to perform a relearn on the anti theft system, it's not recognizing the key if this happens with the key inserted. Might want to look online for a reset procedure for Jeep. GM has you keeping the key in the ignition in the on position for 10 minutes.

Sounds like an electrical problem; look for loose, corroded or kinked/broken wires. The problem is most likely in the dash wiring/connections and seems to be pretty common in jeeps.

check the fuel pump fuse/relay, could be just bad enough to cause an intermittent start/no start. and check fuel pressure,spark and the crank position sensor.

Check and see if the cables are hooked up right to the battery then check your cables see if there is a ground off some where, Last check to see if the new battery is bad
