SOURCE: 4 wd will not engage ,indicator lights on dash do not light
If its not engaging into 4 WD the vaccum actulator is more than likely stuck. The actulator is located on the front of the axle next to the the front gear hub it will have a plastic cover over it. Unbolt the two 10mm bolts that hold the cover on and spray down with WD-40, also pull back the rubber cover thats on the actulator staff and spray it. You might have to hit the staff a few times to get it to move just make sure its in 4WD. I had the same problem, that part is exposed to alot of water, snow, salt and so on. Or you could just replace it but its cheaper to spray it down with WD-40

try cleaning the connector that goes to the fuel pump, sometimes they corrode on inside. If that does not fix, test the wires feeding fuel pump with a multi meter until the condition shows itself again, if voltage drops to zero or very low then wiring problem, if voltage is unchanged with problem and fuel pump is not working and connectors are all clean, try replacement of fuel pump.

have engage motor checked may be bad, i forget the rite name for it but its located on transfer case, and it puts transfer case in the range you select, that what the problem is about 75% of the time you can test it, good luck.
SOURCE: 4wheel drive does not engage
Had the same problem had the dealer fix it. It was some solenoids on the wheel hubs that were corroded. They replaced those and the gem module (fuse box). Prior to that I had the 4wd motor replaced but it was still under warranty. Everything works now.
