Remove/replace serpentine belt

According to what make or model, but usually not that hard. Most vehicles have a belt diagram sticker, under the hood. That will show you the travel of the belt or what the belt has to go around to turn. Locate your belt tensioner or idler. There should be a square hole in the center of it. Usually a half inch drive breaker bar, or rachet will fit in the hole. By pushing, or pulling, you'll see witch direction needed to relieve pressure off of belt. Take pressure off, then simply pull off the belt. Use diagram to see where, an how belt runs, then push tensioner, put belt on an then release tensioner. Hope this helps make it easier

How to change a timeing belt on a 1994 isuzu trooper

  • Pop the hood and locate the belt tensioner on the front of the engine, which has a square hole in the middle of it. Stick the end of the 1/2-inch breaker bar into the hole and turn the bar counterclockwise to release tension on the belt. Then pull the old belt off of the pulleys and remove it from the engine.

  • 2

Open the owner's manual and locate the belt routing diagram for the engine. If you can't find the owner's manual, there is a sticker under the hood that shows the routing diagram as well. Start installing the belt around the pulleys according to the diagram until you can't pull it any further.

  • 3

Pull the breaker bar again, turning it counterclockwise, and put the belt around the tensioner. Then release the tensioner and visually inspect the belt to make sure it's not twisted or bent any odd directions, and make sure that the belt is sitting squarely in each pulley. If not, pull up the tensioner with the breaker bar again and adjust as necessary.

How do I replace the Airconditioning/power steering belt on a Grand marquis, Mercury(1992)? please show me in a diagram or print somehow

Move the Grand Marquis's serpentine belt tensioner off the serpentine belt with the serpentine belt tool. Pull the belt of the remaining pulleys by hand. Take the belt out of the engine well. Wrap the new belt around the bottom portion of the crankshaft pulley. Follow the belt routing diagram to route the belt over each remaining pulley until only the tensioner remains. Move the Grand Marquis's serpentine belt tensioner aside once more and slip the belt onto the tensioner pulley.Hold the belt in place with one hand while you move the tensioner slowly back into position with the other. Drive belt routing diagram w reg ford focus

Somewhere under the hood, usually on the fan shroud or near the radiator, there should be a sticker with a diagram of the belt routing, 2001 may even be on the hood. On this diagram it will show a tensioner pulley and idler pulley and the approximate location. Most Fords use a 15mm or 16mm bolt on the tensioner, this is where you put a wrench to rotate the tensioner and remove the belt. When you turn the tensioner bolt turn towards the front of the car, there will be a lot of tension so pull hard.

I have a 1990 ford probe, I need to change the serpentine belt, how do I lossen the belt to get it off.

To remove the belt you have to use either a wrench the correct size or a 3/8" ratchet to move the belt tensioner. The belt tensioner is one of the pulleys that your belt is riding over. It is spring loaded and holds tension on the belt. Sometimes they are hard to get to because of the tight fit of the engine to the fenderwells. If you push on your belt with your hand, you should be able to see the tensioner move up or down. As soon as you let loose of the belt the tensioner should pull the belt tight again. This is a very generic description but works on all cars and truck without having to buy a shop manual. Note that there should be a belt routing diagram on your radiator support, hood, or other article to show you how the belt is actually routed. Pay close attention to the correct routing of the belt. Some of the routing diagrams show where the tensioner is located. Hope this helps you out.

.i need a diagram of

b0a164e.gif

Open hood, although it is easier to reach the belt tensioner from under the car, you will need to route the belt from above. Take the tension off the belt tensioner (a breaker bar or rachet and the proper size socket with a pipe to give ya more leverage should work) and pull the belt while the tensioner is pulled away from the belt. to put new belt on, properly follow accesorie pulleys with new belt, leaving the tensioner pulley last once that far, take your breaker bar or rachet with proper size socket... and pull the tensioner away from the belt so that you can slip the belt over the tensioner, push the belt over pulley. release the tensioner and check to make sure the belt is seated properly on all pulleys.

There should be a sticker with the diagram on the right strut tower. If it is no longer there the way to find the information (and a lot more related to your vehicle) would be to buy a Haynes manual for your model from an auto parts store or go to your local library and look in a Chilton manual. Most libraries will copy the page containing the pertinent info..

Serpentine belt replacement

There should be a factory diagram on the top of the original radiator shroud. This will show the belt routing. The easiest way to change the belt is to use a 5/8 socket on the pulley bolt on the tension wheel, attach a breaker bar or ratchet, stand on the passenger side and pull the handle to you. If you need more leverage, I like to put a large box end wrench on the handle, it works and is easier to find than a small cheater pipe. You can easily lever the tension pulley up to release the belt tension. You will need an extra pair of hands to pull the old belt out and place the new belt, following the routing guide.
