The Transmission Control Module (TCM) on a Volvo XC90 AWD 2.9 is located under the driver's side dash, attached to the underside of the steering column. It is mounted behind the steering wheel and can be accessed by removing the lower dashboard panel.
you can get it off with any odbcii scanner, but take into account that if you don-t fix the reported problem, probably it will show up again. Usually it could be a sensor or something not very expensive problem.
I had the same problem. LCD on Stereo can't be fixed and Volvo said it would be $1000 for a new unit.
Bought an aftermarket Alpine BT103 (includes bluetooth) for $219 on Crutchfield.com. They included a face plate free!
Install (including Ipod cable) was another $150.
You may get an airbag service light after the install.
Take it to the Volvo dealer and have it reset.
