The only way to mask odors from other cars is to place your CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM on RECIRC. This will re-use internal cabin air rather than take in FRESH OUTSIDE AIR, polluted with noxious odors. Hope this helps.

Does the vehicle have A/C ? If the answer is yes , It has 'RECIRC". Might say " MAX " or have a button with a picture of circular arrows

What would make my defroster on my 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor smell like burning rubber when turned on??

The air intake is right at the bottom of the front windshield. Any odors in the engine compartment are going to come into the HVAC system.

Anyone know how to permanently remove odors from car/van seats/carpets. what has worked for you? please advise.

good question,
i hand one really bad seat, (milk spelt by PO)
i even remove the cushion and cover. ran cover thru washer mach.
and the seat i put in a huge tube outside,
i soaked it in TIDE. hot water.
then when done , rinse
i used that chem called, dog/cat pee enzyme remover.
this attacks the proteins in the milk.

but really ,it does matter the cause of odors, infinite.
and the solution (no pun)
also barcarb soad soaks.
lye always works but kills plastic.

my last rinse was with PineSol (pine oil)
then let it bake dry on the roof of home, in hot summer sun.
i solved mine, but took hard work,
but was paid back on resale, no funny nose sniffs, by buyers.
sold car for more than paid , after 6 years. (mx5)

Need to remove smoke odors from car

  • If you smoke in your car, then this will be obvious but even someone else smoking in the car unbeknown to you can leave a lingering odor. To try and get rid of it, place two towels into two separate plastic bowls and fill with white distilled vinegar. If the car is really big, use additional bowls. Place the plastic bowls into the car with the vinegar-soaked towels. One should sit near the ashtray, and the other one on the backseat. The vinegar will absorb the cigarette odors from the car, so that when you remove the bowls, the odor should leave too. If needed, repeat.[7]You can also try sprinkling baking soda and/or carpet deodorizer over the upholstery and carpet respectively, leave for a few hours, and then vacuum it up. If you or somebody else regularly smokes in the car though, the odor will always be present, so the best thing to do is to stop smoking in the car.

What's your problem?need to remove smoke odors from car

there are several types of sprays to clean interriors. one is for carpets and fabric other type is for plastic other is for leather or vynil.

first of all you need to clean interriors by sweeping it with vacuum cleaner and with water and natural soap. do not use lots of water since you will need to dry it later.

after cleaning interrior you need to proper liquid to clean related surface and wiping it with a soft quality cloth.

in general fabric surfaces like top lining and seats and carpets require two pcs of sprays(multi purpose interrior cleaner). if you seats are leather covered you need leather contidioneer. after cleaning fabric and leather. use plastic cleaner in pressureized spray cans. after wiping off all left cleaning agents, clean windows with only alcohol with a microfiber cloth.

this will take normally 1 to 2 hours. use gloves.
