2008 Jetta wiper makes streak on windshield

I have taken my 08 Jetta to the dealer three times to change out wiper blades on the driver side. I get a huge streak across my windshield which leads to low visibility during a hard rainstorm, not to mention, an annoying streak when its just a shower. I have a two year old riding with me most of the time and having the distraction from the wipers is very dangerous. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, was there a fix? My car will be a year old this month. The blades are driving me nuts! Good thing I don't live in Seattle!! The dealership has told me everything from having some oil on my windshield to the wrong cleaner in the wiper fluid (even though I've taken it to only VW for service). It's a lease too!

Why wouldn't the dealership know to do that? It's a lease so everything defected would be covered under their warranty...at least you would figure. Thanks for the suggestions but I already have a big payment and really want the dealership to handle this one!!

Go online and buy new front wiper arms, you get them fairly cheep 15$ for one. your old original arm may have had a defect or had just been bent a little some howk, this could be whats causing the streaks.

2001 Subaru outback driver side windshield wiper goes to far to the outside tears up the end of the blade - ideas please

I have the same problem with a 2001 Legacy wagon. The problem is not as simple as the solutions above. Mine are adjusted to park as low as possible when off. Even so, the blade on the drivers side goes all the way off the windshield. The Subaru dealer wants to replace the whole wiper blade transmission for about $450. Looking online it seems to be interconnecting arms and pivot points that connect the motor to the wiper blade arms.

Windshield wiper problem

this could be a result of the linkage coming apart this is located under the cowel and not easy to service. It could also be a result of bad splines between the wiper arm adn wiper arm shaft. if the later is the case you can sometimes tighten the 15 mm nut that holds the arm to the shaft. but this will only work once or twice before the arm requires repolacement. remember folks, wipers are your friend in the winter, they are not ice chippers or snow plows, always clear your windshield with an ice scraper and make sure the wiper blades are not frozen to the glass. this small form of torture in the cold will save you big $$$ in the auto repair shops.
