Removing 96 Altima ECU

I'm trying to remove the ECU on my 96 Altima. There are philips screws that are very difficult to reach. I am able to reach it with a stubby but I can't get a good enough angle on them. Is there a better tool to use?

Remove whatever is the way like the whole dash unit ,or try a socket 1/4 drive with screwdriver type head

Thanks. I resolved my issue. I went and got some of those alan wrench type screw drivers with a phillips head. The socket wouldnt fit too close to the floor board. This thing is seriously one of the dumbest designs I've seen. They want it that way though.

SOURCE: Removing the door panel on a 2005 Nissan Altima

If you have the door panel loose you should be able to see the plastic clips that are holding that in or a plug you can undo to be able to remove the panel completely. If it has clips you can release them with a screw driver.

How do I change the heater temperature control mechanism on 93 ranger extended cab XLT?

If your 93 is anything like my 96 was, you can access the temp control ( called a blend door) door by removing the glove box. You should be able to see the control cable on top of the heater plenum. Sorry I can't be of more help than that other than to say the screws holding things together are quite difficult to reach. Good luck!

Driver side mirror replacement

Instructions1.
    • 1
Remove thedoor panel. Refer to your Honda Accord repair manual for theinstructions in removing the door panel. Unhook the rods and connectors on theinside of the door panel and set it on the floor.
    • 2
Remove thefilm covering the access to the side mirror. It's difficult to avoid damaging thefilm while removing it so you will need to purchase a new piece of filmcovering when you buy a new side view mirror.
    • 3
Reachthrough the service hole into the mirror housing with a screwdriver. Loosen thescrew that holds the mirror. Twist the screw out with your hand.
    • 4
Reacharound the door and support the mirror with your other hand. Continue to twistthe screw out, then catch the mirror as it drops out when you remove the screwcompletely. Put the screw in a safe place so you don't lose it.
    • 5
Installthe new side view mirror by positioning it where the old mirror was. Insert thescrew you took out in Step 4 and twist it in with your hand. Insert ascrewdriver into the service hole to tighten the screw.
    • 6
Replacethe film covering that was damaged when you took out the old mirror. Push itinto place in the indentation on the door.
    • 7
Sit in thecar seat and adjust the mirror so you can use it properly.

I have 96 nissan altima, it star but when i turn it off, stayed on

this is normally refered to as "dieseling" try a tune up (cap, rotor, plugs, wires) be careful not to strip the screws in the cap when removing, they are not easy to replace in this vehicle.
however if the vehicle continues to run perfectly fine for longer than 1 minute after you removed the key, you may have a bad ignition ground, a chiltons manual will show you the way to repairs.

How to remove and replace the front rotors on 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5

I can give you that information, the resource I use is honestautoestimates.com, they are free. You basically remove the wheels, remove the 2 caliper bolts, remove the caliper bracket bolts, remove the 1 philips head screw near the lug stud and take the rotor off. Reverse to complete.

How do i remove the radio in a 2003 altima?

if you're talking about the head unit(deck), its a simple matter of removing the surround by first pulling off the bottom of the center portion of the dash, then removing the screws holding in the radio after you remove the other portion of the center dash, also held in by screws if I remember correctly. You can do a search online, or check out one of the many forums dedicated to car audio or the nissan altima forums at nissanclub. its really very simple and you'll be able to find all the info you need on either.

Evaporator Box in Altima

You cant remove it because there are 2 pipes attached to it under the hood. You actually need to recover the R134 out of the A/C system and undo those 2 pipes to get it out. There may by some more screws that hold it in. See if your Altima has a small opening, that may be covered (incabin filter hole) Some 2000 models started coming out with incabin filters and that's how they get replaced. It would be visible since you have the glove box out. You will see a small cover 1 inch wide and about 6-7 inches long. If you don't see anything like that, than you don't have the slot for the filter. If you have the opening, (right above the blower motor) remove the cover and look in the slot. You will see the evaporator and inside of the box and what is in there aka pine needels etc.
As far as the ECM goes, those are car specific and can not be mixed. You need the ECM with the same part number as the one that came with the car originally. Good luck.
