Transmission shifts erratically, worse in warmer weather

Initially, input speed sensor was replaced by a Hyundai dealer and problem stopped for ~6months...it may have had some really subtle act ups that I may have dismissed or not noticed. The problem returned , and the car acted and now acts the same as it did before the repair. This is the only problem, and I am able to drive the car. The most frequent issue occurs when starting out from a stops , such as at a light- the car won't shift out of 1st. Usually stopping and shutting engine does not fix it; it will shift eventually into 2?, 3?, then stay in that gear, even if I stop at another light. It is erratic, sometimes it behaves perfectly fine. I have no problems c distance driving, except that it does drop out of 4th sometimes when speed >60 mph..that is , if it got into 4th at all- usually it does not achieve 4th- but when it does drop out, it seems to only drop to 3rd- it's not usually a huge clunk in those situations. The biggest clunking is when stuckj in 1st. It always comes out of it tho, I've never been delayed because of it.

SOURCE: trans drops into 3rd gear won,t shift to 4th

DTC P0734 is "4th gear incorrect ratio" - that's your torque converter 'LOCK UP Clutch" It's worn out (or you're using the wrong Trans Fluid required by Hyundai - SPIII OR Both). The P1624 is simply the Trans Control Unit (computer) communicating to the Engine Control Module (ECM computer) MIL - on request signal to ECM = asking it to turn on "Check Engine" light. MIL = Malfunction Indicator Lamp. When the torque converter 'lock up" clutch slips or doesn't engage, the trans automatically returns to 3rd gear and stays there (it's called 'fail safe' mode) until you cycle the ignition key, then everything resets until the malfunction occurs again.
You'll need to have an AT (Automatic Transaxel) tester hooked up to verify this. Hyundai has a Service Bulletin specifically for "gear incorrect ratio' codes. If when you changed the trans fluid, was it done at a Hyundai Service Center? If not, someone may have installed the wrong fluid.

SOURCE: i have had my tiburon less than a year but about a

the trans computer has seen a problem possible a bad sensor, or an internal problem, and puts it into a safe mode, or limp home mode , it wont shift , it will stay in 3rd gear, this way this reduces the possibility of further damage trans damage, when you turn the ignition off and back on it resets the tcm, my advice is to take it to your local dealer, they can diag your trans as they know the product, i dont advise pep boys, or discount auto parts.

Pcm shows a turbine speed sensor error code, any reason the valve body separator plate needs to be replaced?

Error Code P0715 is defined as Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction. This means the transmission is unable to read the RPM of the engine, keeping it from shifting properly and causing erratic and hard transmission.

Replaced input and output speed sensors for erratic speedometer. Now the speedometer remains at 0. Anyone have a suggestion on what else could be wrong?

input and out put speed sensors tell the TCM and the ECM the difference between engine rpms and transmission input roms so that the correct gear ratio can be selected
A speedo sensor reads the out put shaft (drive line ) shaft and refers to road speed for speed and odometer readings and to calculate the fuel consumption rate
it is possible that you have replaced the wrong sensor
Talk with an accredited transmission specialist shop and have the problem diagnosed

Does a 01 Chevrolet cavalier have a transmission modulator valve

No , it is all electronic ! Do you have a shifting problem ? erratic shifting etc.. ?
The automatic transmission input shaft speed sensor (AT ISS) is a magnetic inductive pickup that relays information about the transmission input speed to the PCM. The PCM uses this information to control the line pressure, TCC apply and release, and the transmission shift patterns.

Can I replace the transmission solonoid on a 98 Town and Country Van without resetting the computer?

It depends. Are there codes in the computer now? Has it bee reset since you replaced the input speed sensor? If the codes are still in there, the transmission may still be in limp-in mode.

Your transmission is computer controlled. Trying to diagnose or repair it without the ability to interface with the computer that controls it about the same as surfing the internet with no monitor. If you push the right buttons and click your mouse just right, you might get to the page you are looking for (not likely, but possible). However, when you do get there, you still won't know it....

Vehicle had a rough automatic transmission shift and erratic speedometer when vehicle warmed up. I've replaced both output and input speed sensors. Now the speedometer does not work and transmission won't...

Still sounds like a bad output speed sensor - check scan the TCM for codes and see what you get. Also check the wiring at and near the output speed sensor connector.
