Car won't start. Possibly fuel pump related.

the whining noise is your engines alternator bearings
they are worn out , the alternator is close to failure
it is barely producing any voltage
( the battery light in the dash only indicates that the alternator is no longer generating any amperage )

Possibly the fuel pump or crankshaft sensor

now u redid timing-u sure its rite as the shop manual sez--get car scanned to see wats up--may need tuneup or hav fuel delivery issues

Yes...check the pump, filter and output. Also check the ballast resistor for the pump. Stop pouring fuel into the cylinder...instead, use carb cleaner and spray into throttle body (excess fuel in one cyl will contaminate your engine oil). If it runs normally after you get it started likely the pump is good (unless you have problems at high rpm's under power) Regulator is likely good as well...default is to more fuel not less.

does the water pump run off the timing belt or auxillary (fan) belt? maybe timing belt has slipped some teeth?

Hello, I would change the fuel filter especially if it's never been changed to your knowledge and if the car runs great up untill 4200rpms. If the filter is starting to plug then it will fell boggy and possibly jerky because the motor is being starved for fuel.

IT COULD BE COUPLE OF THINGS YOUR FUEL PUMP OR YOUR COIL IN THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP!!

Check the distributor by letting the car run and tug on the wiring and see if the car acts up. Under the thermostat housing is a wiring harness, I've seen coolant drip on the connector of the O2 sensor and cause this problem too. The main relay is the switch you're referring to. It's located under the dash of the driver's side to the left. I've definitely seen these go bad. Use a test light on the hot wire to the fuel pump. Have an assistant turn the key in the "on" position and see if you have power there. Let me know what you found out so I can hopefully give you more things to check out. Sounds like you need gearbox oil (transmission oil in USA) .... check your levels and top it up.

I had the fuel pump recently replaced i just assumed the fuel filter was replaced also cause my fuel pump is in the gas tank. My air filter is clean and I have 4 fuel injectors, no carburetor. A friend of mine who has looked at my car for me says it sounds like there is some kind of air leak but can't figure out where it is coming from?
