Sounds like the trans could use a service, it might be too late to save it and will need a rebuild, but your description sounds like low pump pressure.
stuck valve in the tranny in cold weather let it warm up before driving it then put it in neutral and warm up tranny if it does not slip then it is probably a sticking valve
These are very sensitive to the adjustment of the throttle position cable that goes from the carb linkage, or throttle position linkage. Make sure that is set correctly. If it is set correctly and it still doesn't work correctly take it to a good transmission shop on the 700R4. Had to have mine done 4 times and it still isn't totally right. Mine is behind a strong Mark IV big block.
I thave the same problem with my civic ek 96 model the tranny work fine when its cold but when it get warm and i put it in P or N and D4 again it will stock in 1st gear I have to wait 3 to 4 hours to get cool and it work fine again. Hope somebody can help me. Thanks Eli
you can try flushing it using Seafome and replace your filter and fluid adding some trans tune with the new oil can git this things from most part stores . Hope this helps.
I have the same problem with my 97.... especially shifting from 3rd to O/D... I've had the tranny serviced and flushed.... It still does it until the tranny warms up.... the tranny's in them are temperature picky!!!!! It's the nature of the beast!!! Wait until spring and everything will be good until next winter!!! If you're really concerned with it you can put a "cold front" on it or block half (NO MORE THAN HALF) of the tranny cooler with cardboard thru the winter months
