Positive terminal keeps getting corroded even after 3 weeks.

Battery 1 1/2 years old (Sears diehard gold). Intermittant starting. One month ago, no start. Pos terminal covered with blue corrosion. Cleaned terminal and connector with water and baking soda. Brushed clean. insert felt pads on both terminals. Reconnect. Spray flat black paint on terminals. Ok. Now, same problem, no start. Corrosion again on pos terminal. Battery or alternator or voltage regulator problem? Advise.

Try keeping the terminal far away from any moisture and dirt. In fact isolating it may not be a bad idea. Try getting a battery box for it or sealing off the existing one, just make sure to use a drain tube and vent. Some stores have battery terminal isolators, these are less effective but can help. There is also a battery terminal sealant spray that may be helpful if you cannot get/use a battery box. Clean the terminals thoroughly, spray the terminal sealant, and use the battery box for a three way attack. This is especially use full in harsh climates. These methods can also be used on remote battery terminals that are on some cars.

Battery Keeps Draining

If the battery discharges by leaving it shut off you can rule out the belt or the battery terminals. The battery is new so it shouldnt be bad, and you have had it tested along with the alternator so both of those should be ruled out as not being problematic. It sounds like you have a massive parasitic drain in your electrical system. Ultimately something is closing the loop between the + and the (-) sides of your battery via your extensive electrical system. Granted, finding the source of the problem will be headache lol. Hope this helps

Want to buy a new battery for 2000volvoS80, what size should i buy?

Research your factory battery cold cranking amps usually listed on the top of your battery or compare owners manual battery spec. Wise to meet/exceed these amps with your replacement battery. ie Autozone Gold is a 1000 CCA battery in many appications. 3 year free replacement etc...compare prices at Costco, AutoZone, Interstate, sometimes the Sears Diehard, but can be limited in applications. I use the Autozone Duralast Gold, about $108. w/exchange. Don't be surprised to be able to increase the CCA by a couple hundred over the factory battery...this is a good thing:) Hope this helps.

2003 mazda tribute, occasionally won't start. fuel pump replaced about 1 month ago. bad starter?

Many batteries may only last around three years. Check battery voltage at rest before starting. Any voltage in the low 12v range may be a sign of a faulty battery. If low voltage present, then perform a parasitic drain test:1) Disconnect battery POSITIVE terminal and connect ammeter in series, between battery positive terminal and positive lead.
DO NOT START THE VEHICLE!!

2) With all vehicle doors closed, alarm off, lights off, radio off, and all other accessories off, wait for around 20 minutes and then read the ammeter. A healthy system should read about 0.03 amps and little more. If reading more, then the vehicle could be suffering a parasitic amp drain, and you will need to locate this issue.

3) Reconnect battery when finished.

If no major parasitic drain present, yet low battery voltage then:

4) With vehicle started, check the voltage charge from the alternator. Connect voltmeter to battery terminals and take reading. A healthy system should be charging in the range of 14volts or down to around 13.5 volts. If reading around 12 volts only, then check and replace alternator.

I have a 2004 PT Cruiser Platinum series with a 2.4 liter engine, wjhat is a suitable replacement battery for this car; Sears die hard or interstate ?

Sears Diehard or Interstate would make a battery for your vehicle. Look for something with over 600 cca and you should be ok for the winter.

Diehard makes a Platinum battery, but it costs over $189.99.
Diehard Gold batteries are like $109 or so.

Walmart sells batteries that are comparable to the Diehard Gold for under $100.

However, I just bought a Platinum battery for my 1997 Cadillac Deville Limo and it seems to work alright so far and has a 4 year free replacement warranty.

In general, the more you pay, the better the battery up to the 'best' which is the Diehard Platinum.
Walmart and Interstate do not offer a battery that has as long of a warranty or as good of a design as the Platinum from Diehard which uses proprietary technology to get a better warranty than normal.

The Platinum name in the PT Cruiser has nothing to do with the Platinum name for Diehard, by the way.

Good luck on finding a suitable replacement battery for your 2004 PT Cruiser Platinum.

What's the best battery for a caddillac deville

I put a Diehard Platinum battery in mine for about $189.99 plus tax at Sears Holdings or Sears for short.

It has a 4 year free replacement warranty, the best in the business, and has higher cca's than the Gold version of the Diehard which is equivalent to the best that Walmart sells.

Good luck on buying the 'best' battery for your Cadillac.

I need to replace the battery 3.5 liter v6...any suggestions...looking towards sears

The best battery offered by Sears costs about $189.99 and has a 4 year free replacement warranty (Platinum).
One can get the Gold by Sears for $109.99 or so which has higher than oem cca.

Probably the Gold would suit your needs, but if you have the extra money, the $189.99 Platinum should last for many years to come, and uses advance technology.

My dealership wants $180 to replace my yukon xl battery. that seems expensive. Can you recommend alternatives?

Does the $180 include the cost of the new battery? If it does, that actually isn't a bad price. I checked autozone site, new battery is $150 and it's a 30 minute job to remove and replace, due to the battery being positioned where a lot of stuff has to be removed. It seems that GM does this more than other manufacturers, many GM models have batteries under back seats, or in the trunk. They should make access easier. If the $180 is labor only, I'd go to a private garage or service center and shop around for a good price, making sure they know what's involved. You could also go to alldatadiy site and subscribe to repair info on the Yukon, get step by step instuctions with diagrams and do this yourself. Good luck!
