Engine need air , fuel and spark ..you got spark you got air.. Trace out your fuel system ( filter , lines carb , fuel pump , if electric then check fuse for pump )

Check to ensure fuel pump fuse hasn't burned out. Try spraying starting fluid directly into the throttle body to see if it tries to catch.

89 f150 will start but after choke let's idle down it dies or if you even touch the gas. It had sat up for 5 years but the first time I got it started it drove for over an hour.

The damage is already done. Gasoline breaks down within 1 year. Drain and flush the old fuel out of the gas tank(s). Try adding Chevron Techron fuel injection cleaner to the replacement gas. That may work. However, you probably need to remove all the fuel injectors [if it's a fuel injected engine] and have them sent out to be professionally [ultrasonic] cleaned and tested. Fords are notorious for fuel injector problems. Also do a fuel system pressure test, as the bad gas may have damaged the electric fuel pump [located in the fuel tank(s). For a carbureted engine, you will need to have the carburetor overhauled or replaced with a rebuilt unit. NEVER let a vehicle sit unused for more than 6 months without first treating the gasoline. I always add a fuel stabilization product like Sta-Bil to the fuel, if the engine will not be run for at least 2 months or more. Adding these products after the fuel has gone bad [is already old] will not help. Then it's to late. Below is a link for Sta-Bil. I've used this product for over 20 years. It will save a LOT of grief, when storing vehicles or gas powered lawn equipment. See

How do I fix and 97 GMC 1/2 ton with a 350 vortec. Runs great once running. Sat for 5 years. If sits more than 5 minutes wont start without shot of starer fluid

have you changed the fuel filter and emptied the gas tank and put fresh gas in? Stale gas will not start as well as fresh gas and there could be water from condensation in the tank.

What else could cause a no start condition turns over ok occasionally it will fire

Fire when? as you release the key? If so replace the ignition switch. If you have fuel and spark it should start unless it is way out of time or the security is set. Another thing to consider is the spark plugs. Since you have had so much gas threw the engine, they may be fouled out.

94 Subaru Loyale, gas dripping slowly from the black rubber point on the in-line fuel pumpgas line leaking

Dan,
First of all, rubber does not last forever. The hoses on this unit are almost, if not already 20 years old. You need to go through the pressure lines, vacuum lines, coolant lines with about $200 and replace as many as you can. If not, you are just asking for problems. Second, the pump will not generate to much pressure, the pressure regulator will. It is on the fuel rail. Third, if the pressure were too high, it might smoke black smoke as the fuel/air ratio would be too rich, not run faster. The throttle body position regulates that. Fix the leak and check the pressure. It is a bomb waiting for ignition. Deal with the other issues after that.

91 isuzu pick up sat for 2 years and now wont start

I\'d try 2 things. One, some, or many, motors and fuel pumps, even electric ones, need to be "primed".
You might try to figure out how to suck the fuel from the tank up to the motor somehow.
I do not necessarily mean using your mouth.
You could also take a rag and an air hose, and GENTLY blow air into the gas tank to "prime" the system.
Another thing is, is there some part of the engine where gasoline could have congealed or turned to gummy deposits preventing the gas flow?
This is why they suggest mowers and generators be run until they run out of gas before storage, to prevent gummy deposits caused by evaporated gas.
Be blessed.

1989 ford bronco 2 fuel issues

You might want to check these out. 1-make sure fuel cap vent is not blocked. 2-there is a fuel cut off switch normally located in the boot this may need resetting.3-get someone to run a diagnostic check using fuel delivery program....Good-luck.

My 1998 Jeep Cherokee seems to loss power everytime I start it. After just 2-3 seconds, the engine shuts off. I got the vehicle from an impounding area and it has not been used for more than three (3)...

Since is sat so long, whatever fuel was in the tank has probably gone "sour". Old gasoline gets an unpleasant "varnish" smell to it. The only certain way to remove any bad fuel is to drain the tank, and by all means change the fuel filter again.
Another thing that happens when a vehicle sits a very long time is that condensation in the tank causes water in the fuel. One or two cans of "dry gas" along with a full tank of fresh gas can often take care of this.
The easiest way to drain the fuel tank is by disconnecting the fuel line under the hood, connecting a hose to it, place the hose in a gasoline can, and turn the key two clicks to "ON" (NOT START!) so the fuel pump does the work for you.

1989 Bronco fullsize has sat for the past 6 years and wont start, will turn over, has new gas with fuel stabilizer, still no firing. Replacing spark plugs and the fuel pump are the next two steps. ...

Assuming she ran good before she sat, replacing the plugs, cap and rotor isn't a bad idea.Step 1: Make sure you have good spark. No need to worry about timing right now. Step 2: If you have spark, then we have to see if its getting gas. There are two fuel pumps on this Bronco. One in tank and one on the frame rail. Can you hear either one running? The in tank one should come on for a few minutes and shut off. The front one is harder to hear.If you hear it, borrow or rent a FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE and check your fuel pressure. There is a fitting similar to a tire valve on fuel rail. Pressure should remain constant. If either pump fails you will not get adequate fuel flow. The front pump is easy to get to for trouble-shooting. Don't buy anything unless your sure you will need it. Hope this helps.
