It could be if you tail light bulb and brake light bulb are the same bulb. You might have put the bulb in the wrong way round so the two silver bits on the bottom of the bulb joins the 2 wires together so when you brake the side lights come on and dashboard lights up or the other thing it might be is a broken wire hope this helps

SOURCE: 1998 gmc sierra brake lights

did u check that they not burn?if not you should Check the wires going into the steering column if you don't have separate turn signal lights and brake lights because if they use the same bulb then the turn signal may be bad. If I remember correctly that particular car doesn't work this way, but I include it just in case.

SOURCE: No Brake Lights, unable to switch from park to drive

It is not the multifunction switch. The power feed goes thru the brake switch before the multi function. You have no power the the brake switch because your shift interlock is not allowing you to shift it. I'll look up the wiring diagram and repost with a solution.

Break lights not working but tail lights are

Check the brake light switch under the dash at the brake pedal arm, with the pedal pushed you should have 12 volts in and out of the switch.

My 1999 Ford F250 Super Duty Diesel 7.3L ... the Brake lights do not turn on when the pedal is pressed in. I have checked the fuse and it looks fine.

the brake light switch contacts the brake pedal arm under the dash, could be out of adjustment, but before doing that, use a tester to verify voltage to the switch. if you have power put the tester on the other wire and press the brake if it shows that you have power on both sides of the switch then the problem could be in the lights themselves. turn on your emergency flashers or turn signal and check at the back of the truck. if no lights are flashing check the bulbs and verify that the unit has a good ground. check for power at the light unit. if no power track the wires under the truck. you have a broken wire. good luck .

No brake lights but fuse is good. Wiring appears okay.

Isnt there a switch on the brake pedal inside under the dash? There should be power going in and out when depressing the brake pedal. If there is a pressure switch, then check it when the brake pedal is up and then depressed. it should have power on one side up, and both when depressed. One thing to keep in mind that I think it goes through the turn signal switch, so if blinkers work, that tells you the wiring is good to the lights, so concentrate on power getting to and out of the turn signal switch.

I have a 2007 ford f 350 super duty ! My running lights Low beams do not work ! changed bulbs and check all fuses still not working High beams work fine , is this a ford problem?

No its not just a ford problem. I just had this same problem with my lights on a 99 chevy suburban. Turned out to be a little relay switch located under the dash to the left of the steering column. The repair was about $20.00 but it works well now. You can also go to a website called Auto Forum and post questions regarding auto problems that's what I did first. The Gm dealer was useless for getting any information. Good Luck
