2000 Pontiac Montana Making a Loud Vibrating Noise in Back End

I drove my Van home last night and it was fine. This morning I get in and turn the key and I hear this aweful vibrating/clicking/humming sound coming from somewhere in the back end. I'm afraid to move the vehicle. (I just put $1500 into new headgasket work!) Has anyone else experienced this or any ideas what could be wrong?

Thank you! I have a friend that is going to look at it, but he is not a mechanic so he will definitely appreciate the idea of where to check out first. Your response has made me think and my Brake and Traction light have been on for a few days, so maybe that has something to do with it too.

If you have a front wheel drive and not a AWD montana, it could be a bad wheel bearing or a brake shoe that may have broken loose.
Most likely it's going to be a bad rear wheel bearing and it takes less then 2 hours to replace. You can pick up the wheel bearing at Auto Zone or Parts Source for around $170.00 and they have all the instructions for you to do thew job your self if you like.
Tool's you will need: Jack Stand Ratchet with a 1/2 socket and extention Large screw driver 5 pound hammer Lock tight
To check if it is your bearing, try shaking the van from Side to side from the wheel. Listen and feel for any play, the bearing it self is sealed and the bearing my have gone dry.
Good luck and hope this helps. Oh you do not have to remove the brakes to do this job and use the screw driver from the top to split the bearing from the brake housing after you hammer it free from the Axle.

Thank you for that extra information of the traction and brake light's being on. It sounds like it is going to be your wheel bearing. The traction and ABS Brake light sensor is built in the wheel bearing, as the bearing fails, it makes the sensor fail.

If you take the van to Auto Zone or Parts Source, they can scan the computer on the van and will let you know which bearing is faulty.

Good luck and hope this helps.

2008 Pontiac Montana S6 Won't Start.

Sounds like the anti-theft/alarm system was triggered.
Have you tried locking and unlocking the driver door with the key to disable the alarm ?
And you need at least 12 volts to crank the engine so the battery may need to be charged up first.

My key is stuck in the ignition of my 2000 ford focus

There is a hole in the plastic column cover on the bottom. This is the access to a spring loaded pin which keeps your keyswitch in the ignition hole. You may have a worn out key tumbler or the tumbler is loose in the housing and simply needs to be removed and reinserted to work again.

A drill bit or thin hex wrench needs to be poked into that mentioned bottom hole to release the tumbler from the housing with a gentle pull.

Does not seem that there is any electrical current. Checked all the fuses, they are fine. It doesn't seem like a battery problem as there is absolutely no current. Drove it last night everything worked. ...

Is the battery dead? Your alternator may be bad. If you drove it last night you may have driven on battery power and not realized it. You should have gotten some kind of warning message. Need to know if the battery is dead.

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Check all vacuum hoses on the intake, throttle body, etc. Sounds like one cracked or came off. Post back if you have any questions. Hope this helps.

Replace the ignition cables, check if you have any water around any of the electrical components, or fuse boxes.
