Have the vehicle scanned for codes. There could be hundreds of reasons, this will narrow it way down.

I just bought a 2006 Impala (I dont know if its an LS??) I can see the dummy lights for abs & traction but the maunual says they should light up for a second when starting the ingnition. Mine does not...

Usually many models with different equipment, they use the same dash to reduce parts inventories, as a result, you may have unlit "accesories" because your vehicle does not have them. The vehicle has a self check phase when you first turn the key to the "Run" position. Everything you car is equipped with that has a monitor light will light up. you may see bleedover light slighlty illuminating things that are not in your vehicle, but they may be used in other vehicle trim levels. You will know for certain when a light bulb is directly beneath the indicated item..

If the lights light up for traction control for example; when you first turn the key to the Run position, your car is equipped with it. If it has it and the light did not light when the wheels spin, there may be a sensor malfunction that should be checked..

2006 chevy impala traction control

Reduced power is a problem with electronic throttle contol . drive by wire . Do you know what this is ? Taking the vehicle an having it hooked up to diagnostic tool an checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes is always a first step when trying to find the root cause of any trouble light ! And not auto zone , pep boys , or advance auto parts . Thier diagnostic tool will not check codes in all system control modules .

Abs, service engine light and trac off lights keep coming on

Hello. The ABS [anti-lock brake system], traction control and service engine soon light are all interconnected. The ABS and traction control each depend on sensitive sensors to send a signal to your car's computer that there is a problem. The problem unfortunately is that the sensors themselves are bad. If your brakes still pump themselves when you stop fast, for example, then your ABS system is still working but one of your sensors is sending a signal anyways.
To check everything out you can take your car to many auto parts stores, or most recently AAMCO transmission stores, where they will scan your computer for free. Once the scan is done you will know exactly why the service engine soon light is on.
In the meantime, you do not need to worry about your brakes because all the ABS system does is pump them for you. You can still pump them yourself, like folks did for years before ABS came along. Same is true with the traction control. As long as you do not drive wrecklessly you need not worry.
So to summarize, call around to auto parts stores, or AAMCO to get a free scan. Once you have those results you can decide on how to proceed.

Traction Control Off and Service ABS System

If your trac and abs are both on. the problem could be a wheel speed sensor.
on some GM cars this sensor is built into the vehichles hub unit. making the bering and sensor one sealed unit. cheap hub units can be gotten (under 100 bucks) at autozone

Abs light, trac light, service engine soon light 2001 Pontiac Grand Am

Sounds like you have a bad wheel speed sensor. You need to have it scanned. Since it's been sitting, it might just be a bad connection to one of the speed sensors.

Dummie lights are trying to tell me something!!!!

The ABS light being on means the Anti-Lock Brake System has a problem and is shut off until repaired. The TC light should be Traction Control, which will come on when there is a problem with the ABS. If the check engine light is on then there is a issue with the engine controls, Testing will need to be done to come up with the fix to keep the lights off.

2001 olds ABS and traction control sensor issue

An ABS sensor DOES affect the traction control system. Traction control uses these sensors to determine if a wheel is losing traction. A bad sensor will cause both the ABS and TRACTION lights to come on.
The CHECK ENGINE light however is going to be a seperate problem.
