Kia Sedona- center and third row heating vents blowing cold air

We have a 2004 Kia Sedona. On a road trip yesterday, I turned on the heat in the rear and my son was complaining that it was blowing cold air. He put his hand in front of all the rear vents (2 in the center row and 2 in the 3 row seating), all of the rear vents were blowing cool/ cold air. We checked the dials in the front- rear heat fan was on high, the temp dial was all the way to the right (at the highest heat setting) and AC button NOT activated. Checked the adjustment settings in the rear and all were where they should have been. Heat was on and working very well in the driver/passenger area in front.

This model has a rear heat/cold blend door actuator. Its an electric motor that moves the duct door from hot to cold. When they wear out, they're usually stuck on the last setting

Is it possible that this could be stuck from not using it? The people that we bought it from had left it sitting for quite a while. This was the first long distance/highway driving that it had gotten since we bought it this month.

Did you check your coolant level or was it low and you added to it at some point? If so the system my need to be bleed or worst case the thermostat is going bad.

SOURCE: driver's side air blowing warm, won't change

Sounds like there is a crack in the vent that leads to the drivers side, and hot air from the engine is leaking through.

SOURCE: Heater blows cold air. Vents work fine. Used the

There is a diverter valve in the coolant lines. This is used to block the coolant from flowing to the heater core in the summer time. There are 3 types of diverter valves. Vaccum, Eletric and combination. Vaccum is the easiest to check. Usually has a plunger on the diverter and can be manually opened. Use caution when working with hot hoses. Hope this helps.
