SOURCE: i have a 93 corsica and changed the iol pressure
First, put a mechanical gauge on it and check the actual oil pressure.Should be no less than 15psi at idle, warmed up. (That is abslolute minimum, I like to see anything over 20) Unless the pickup screen is packed with debris, doing anything to the oil pump is a waste of time (pump gets oil before anything else in the engine and except for very rare times, is the last thing to fail in the system) Low pressure can be traced to worn bearings, 99% of the time! If this is the case, scrap the engine! If in fact little or no oil is getting to the heads, I'd flush engine and add a mild solvent/lubricant such as Marvel oil, then change the filter in approx 1000 miles, as it is possible that there is a sludge formation in a passage, but if completely blocked it would have destroyed the top end already! Hope this helps!!
