Question about 1988 Toyota Corolla 4 Door
My temperature gauge located in my speedometer is not working properly sometimes it goes up sometime down and sometimes it shows that engine is heated up but its not the reality...

low fluid level or heater control valve may need replace..check hoses going to heater core...if cold...between heater control valve and heater core..replace control valve

Check if the fan is running. You may also have blockage in the radiator or coolant is not circulating properly. I suggest first draining the radiator and inspecting if there are debris in the liquid that comes out.
