SOURCE: Trunk will not close at all

check the pull down motor toensure it has not been broken, i have heard of this before and the problem was when it got slammed it broke the motor. as far as not latching release the trunk and see if it will operate normal. if not lightly press it downand see if it will latch than, the semi-cirle catch must be open and will look like a small mouth when it is opened up.

SOURCE: 1990 lincoln town car trunk motor will work when releasing trunk

All you have to do is bring it in and it takes 2 minutes...to make it like a regular manual car trunk...they tap the part where it closes and it works just like a regular trunk. Much better because I always thought I'd get my hand caught in the automatic. One of the guys at the Service Center did it for me in 2 minutes for free:)) Don't get a new motor just make it manual. Plus the trunk open switch still works as usual.

SOURCE: Trunk wont pull shut.

You have a pull down switch that activates the pull down motor for the trunk lid to close. The manufacture of this part supplies this to Ford & General Motors vehicles. You can go to a Cadillac dealership & purchase this part far cheaper than at Ford. I use to work at a GM dearlership & my neighboring Ford dealer would order this part from me for the cost of mine where less than the cost from Ford. Figure those guys out at Ford. No wonder they don't need a goverment bailout

SOURCE: change my trunk from electric to manaul close

Yes, you can change your present trunk latch to manually close by taking it apart and screwing the metal loop down a couple of turns and put it back together. Unplug the electric connection. Test the closing. You may have to repeat this for adjustment.

How can I close the trunk manually?

Sounds like the pull-down motor is not working. You may need to disconnect the latch and remove the motor or fix it to get the trunk lid completely closed.

Our 2003 Lincoln Towncar trunk has suddenly began not shutting properly. When it closes, it does not fully close to a seal. Upon our troubleshooting we feel the mechanism which brings the trunk to a full...

Once the lid is latched there is a motor that pulls the latch assembly down to finish closing the lid.

I would check the latch mechinism make sure it's not moving around on you like the bolts have loosened or that anything is bent. Also there is a switch in the mechanism that activates it to finish closing as well, open the trunk and close the jaw on the lock with a screwdriver or something similar, and see if you can hear the motor run, if not I would place blame on the switch or the motor itself. And as always I would check for loose / broke wires or a bad ground in the immeidate vicinity of the mechanism.

My 1992 Chrysler Imperial's electric trunk won't fully shut. it latches but it won't close all the way. I can hear the motor still running as if it wants to shut fully, what can I do to fix it?

This sounds like the gears in motor are bad, most of the time when the trunk wouldnt close it was just the switch part on the motor, but if you hear the motor running then it must be the gears and i dont think that is replaceable.

Trunk does not completely close

The trunk latch contains a switch which closes when the trunk lid is pushed closed by hand, then this switch sends power to the trunk lid pull down motor which then finishes closing the trunk lid. Often the switch or motor will go bad and the whole thing will stop working. It takes a little testing to figure out which part is at fault but they are usually quite easy to fix.

How to close the trunk of a Cadillac Deville 1994

I'm sure you have cked the fuses so take a look at the motor assembly at the trunk latch to see if you can dis connect it. Better yet, first tap the motor a few times and make sure it is tightly mounted. Loosen it and retighten the bolts holding it. Sometimes that will relieve and bind the mechanism may be in. Keep your fingrts clear of any mechanism. You shoul be able to hear any movement. good luck.

Truck will not close and battery keeps draining

Ok, you have an auto trunk opener/pulldown. The battery is dead and you opened the trunk with key. SO, now here is what happened. The trunk pulldown motor and latch did not go up as it normally does, in order to catch the the trunk lid as you close it. Connect a battery charger to the battery or put jumper cables on with another car. It should raise. If not flip the little lever on the BLACK switch near pull down latch.

Trunk lid pops open when Locking the Vehicle. Have to close it everytime i lock. This happened after an accident and replacing entire trunk lid.

I will do it in my own way since the wiring is messed up, and when i press close on my Remote, the trunk pops open. I will Harness this problem to benefit me since my remote does not have a trunklid switch. I will route the Motor (that has a piston) wire through the switch relay (located just above the vehicle ID plate area), so that opening the trunk lid is only possible when i keep pressing the trunk open swich (on the trunk lid) while at the same time pressing the close/LOCk button on my remote.
