My AC compressor pully is frozen, resulting in my belt breaking. Is there a way to bypass the pully or to they bake a bypass pully for this make/model?

SOURCE: the pully on the compressor

Yes. there are basically three ways:

1. Put in a new a/c compressor.

2. Try a smaller serpentine belt. If this model came also w/o a/c, that serpentine belt should work fine. If all Santa Fes came with a/c then like you were saying try a smaller belt. You might have to try different smaller belt sizes(as far as I know) until you really get it right, which is not easy.

3. See if they make an a/c compressor delete pully for your particular model. This is basically just a single standalone pully (dummy pully). Aftermarket companies do not make them for all models, but if they make it for yours, you can use the same serpentine belt w/o a compressor. The internet is the best place to check.

1991 chevy k1500 350 motor ,to bypass ac pump

The correct way to do this is to replace the AC Compressor with a bypass pulley. That way the belt and the routing is the same.

Can I bypass the ac pully on a 1993 oldsmobile ninety eight regency elite

Then the belt wont fit, and no other belt will fit either. What you can do is buy a "bypass pulley" , also called an "AC delete pulley". You take the old AC compressor off, and fit a free wheeling pulley onto the compressor bracket. Check with parts stores or google it for an online picture and explanation.

Few months ago they disabled the AC and now serp belt shredded again! now they say replace compressor and hook up AC- what??? and $2000

How did they disable the ac if they didn't bypass the pully that is why the belt shredded. The compressor is probably locked up thefore unless the pully is bypassed the belts will continue to shred

Ac compressor pully

Take the compressor off & buy a shorter belt as long as it is still routed well.

Tried to replace my ac pully with a bypass pully removed all the bolts and I still can't get it budge to remove it.. I say for an hour trying but no luck help?

If you are installing a bypass pulley it will eliminate the A/C compressor thus eliminating your A/C. With that being said, you need to evacuate the system. (If there is anything in it), Remove the whole A/C compressor from the car and then install the bypass pulley where the compressor would mount to the engine. If you are trying to remove the pulley on the A/C compressor to replace it then you will need a special tool (A/C Clutch Pulley Puller) that is usually available at most auto parts store on the "Loan a Tool" programs.

How to turn off air compressor on 1999 ford expedition

  • Under the hood in the relay panel will be a relay for the compressor. When you locate the relay box look on the underside of the lid for the legend (layout) of the relays. Pulling that relay will stop the compressor from turning on.
  • You can also just unhook the connector on the compressor and secure it to stop the compressor from turning on.
  • If you need the compressor clutch to not turn at all, like if the bearings are bad, then you need to buy a smaller belt to bypass the compressor all together.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

I have a 1997 dodge caravan and my belt riped off due to my A/C pully seized. Can i bypass the A/C pully for the time being or do i need to repalce A/C pully

If you are not going to repair the AC then you can purchase a bypass pulley for the AC compressor. They are about $25 from rockauto.com. The pulley will go in place of the compressor. This is for the 3.3 engine.

CAN YOU INSTALL DRIVE BELT ON CAR WITH AC AND BYPASS AC AC COMPRESSOR SEIZED

On most cars you can. But first take a string and rout it around all the pullys excludeing the compressor pully. To make shure the path is cler. Then mesure the length of the string to order your shorter belt.
