A BLINKING ENGINE LIGHT INDICATES AN ENGINE CYLINDER IS MIS-FIRING. HAVE THE TROUBLE CODES TESTED TO DETERMINE WHICH ONE. DO NOT DRIVE THIS WAY AT HIGH SPEEDS AS IT MAY OVERHEAT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND CREATE A FIRE HAZARD.

Misfire but no check engine light mazda mpv

Scanning tells a lot. But if your not getting an engine light. Check vacuum lines first. But if you turn the key on and don't see the light. it blew or someone took it out. Then yes, start with having the codes read.

I have a 2002 Mazda mpv and it seemed like a good vehicle when I got 2 weeks ago. But engine has started cutting out more and more. The check engine light is not on so I don't really know what or where to...

I would start by doing a tune up; replace the spark plugs and wires, change the oil/oil filter, and the fuel filter. All this should be fairly inexpensive if done yourself. If this does not solve the problem take it to a mechanic to see if he can diagnose it.

My 2001 Mazda MPV has engine light on when started and blinking while the car is above 40mph. The code is P0303, I changed the spark plugs and new wires. What can go wrong?

recommend you run a compression test. possibly a burned valve or blown head gasket.

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6715318-causes_gasoline_engine_misfires . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

I have a Mazda 2001 MPV, just had service for o2 sensor and now the check engine light is blinking .

blinking light means engine is misfiring. continuing to drive will severely damage the engine. The O2 should not be related to your engine misfiring

My Mazda MPV randomly begins to "chug" and act like it will die at a stop. the check engine light comes on. Started about 6 months ago. Seems to happen more when it rains. If I tighten the gas cap it stops...

the gas cap and check engine light thing are related in terms of the EVAP system, or the evaporative emisions system. This is NOT where your surge, or "chug" is coming from. The surge could be coming from a Exhaust Gas Recurculation valve that is starting to bind or "hang up" a bit. DO you notice this happens more at lights, or when coming to a stop? if so it could be an idle air control vavle.

'03 MPV problem

we had a very similar problem on our 2003 mazda mpv. at first we were also told coils. we changed all the coils out and the problem came back. we found out that it was a leak in the egr valve and gasket. there was also another leak found after that. when the leaks were fixed, the problem stopped. i suggest checking for leaks in your engine, this could be the problem.

2004 mazda mpv

I don't have a solution to the problem, but Mazda should. I have replaced 3 different ignition coils in the last 3 months. I am spending more on repairs than I was in a car payment. Mazda has been no help at all!
