Sudden power steering and or brake failure engine still running

I have a 2008 ford 1 ton superduty with a 6.4. Lately you will slow down to turn corner or to stop and the brakes or power steering will fail or both. The motor is still running fine. In about 3 seconds comes back around. Have had several close calls because of it. I'm a commercial driver and have never seen anything like this. HELP!!!

if you can put a power steering pump or alternator .on a car you should be able to do it.the cost will be $125.67 for hydro boost.$80.00 for power steering pump.

1992 ford 7.3 power steering pump is pushing fluid through the vent holes in the fill cap

It very well could be a brake master cylinder issue.
all of the 1 ton and up , 3/4 ton if diesel , have hydraulic vacuum assist brake masters. that run on the power steering pump, if one part of the system is malfunctioning , it could very well effect the part of the system.

Jost power steering and power brakes at same time. any ideas

The engine provides power steering through the power steering pump that is runnung when the engine is going and the power brakes are powered by the vacuum generated when the engine is running. To lose both togeather then the engine probably stopped.

How can a brake booster be tested?

Hello deepockets4: My name is Roger and I will help with your question. With the engine off depress the brake pedal 5 or 6 times. After doing this hold down the brake pedal and start the engine. The pedal should fall about 1 1/2 to 2 inches from where the pedal was. Should the pedal not drop you have a vacuum problem. If you have a hydra-boost brake system this check will not work. A Hydra-boost brake system does not have a brake booster. This system uses the power steering pump as the assist on the brake system. With the hydra-boost system the pedal will go all the way to the floor but you would have already put your nose to the windshield. For the hydra-boost system to fail you generally will have a power steering leak or pump failure. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. 2000 H1 suddenly steering locked up while moving. very difficult to turn with engine on , will turn smoothly with wheels up and engine off. Brake is hard and feels like bubbles underfoot when applied ....

Good day. Please check that all fan and V bellts are in place. Your power steering pump runs with a belt, and the brakes could be of the hydraulic type. Check your power steering pump for failure if all else fails. Hope this helps
