Question about 2001 Buick Regal

1 Answer

99 Buick regal GS

I have a 99 Regal GS supercharged
Recently it started running a little sluggish. We had a tune up done with no success. If you start the car and immediately start to drive whether it is forward or reverse the car is hesitant to go. You have to get up to at least 3000rpms, and it barely crawls. However if you let the car warm up for at least a minute there is no problem. We had the car looked at and we were told the transmission needs to be replaced. Is there something else that could solve this problem that is not sooo expensive. I looked forward to any advise.

the transmission was serviced about a year ago, just a fluid flush though. It was also serviced today by a local transmission business, and they were unable to pinpoint the exact problem.

Check the idle air control as it is operating when you start the car and after the car warms up it is out of the system.

I would change your plugs and wires with original a/c delco factory wires and plugs. My buick did the same and got corrected with factory wires and plugs.I tried most of the after market and they didn't do the job.

should be on the fuel rail, take the plastic engine cover off and you should see the injector rails on either side of the supercharger, got to be real close to the line towards the firewall

I want to know is it necessary to havena

yes. it is part of the intake system and the computer relies on the air that is being forced into it. the 3.8 is a great engine and you have a one of a kind. or one of few. but the engine is built with less compression to accommodate the supercharger. to run without it in the long run will cause major problems.

99 buick regal won't start

Hello, the Regal seems to have that problem. Insert your key in the ignition and turn it but do not turn the car on, make sure you here the fuel pump kick in, then at the end of you r fuel rail there should be a cap, remove it, use a very thin screw driver and push that part in, Be careful it's going to squirt gas, that's a good sign. If it does not, check your fuel filter. And last, if nothing above described works first check your negative wire on your fuel pump, second your injectors, they might be clogged.
Best of luck, God Bless.

Buick Regal dying

You have a problem in the fuel pump relay circuit for sure then. I'm betting the relay, but it could be that dropping resistor.

It's probably an alternator, or an alternator fuse.
