Failed emissions 95 GMC 1500 Pick-up 5.7 Liter K motor. Fails Hydrocarbon at low idle, but easily passes high idle. Could this be a computer, catalyst, or egr hose?

High HCs means un burned fuel ie it runs rich at idle. Could be a egr valve partially stuck open. (it should be 100% closed at idle) could be worn out injector nozzles, could also be a sticky iac (idle air control) motor. But probably not a computer problem.

SOURCE: Failing NJ State Inspection for Low Idle Emissions

Based on what your write up says it would have to be a timing issue or Mass Air flow Sensor (MAF) .If your getting 20 HG's at idle steady there can't be a vacuum leak.Your a little on the rich side so its probably a dirty MAF.Try cleaning it first and see what you get . If that doesn't work then reset timing.

After getting my 95 GMC Sierra 1500 5.7L V-8 back from a failed emissions test I let their mechanic fix it( or pass smog) However, now when the truck is in park the rpm's are at 1200 about 300...

I had an 89 Chevy Silverado with a high idle problem, A lot of money later and a lawsuit against a repair shop that said they fixed it and they didn't caused early engine failure and they wind up paying for a new engine. Long story short, I found out the main cause was I had to replace the throttle body gasket because it was bad causing more air intake and the on board computer tried to compensate for the air by adding more fuel therefore, high idle. I hope this helped.

Idles high,jumps high and low,cleaned throttle body,and still idles high,will come down but takes a minute or two,what could it beits a 2004,mag. v 8 ,4.7 liter

disconnect the negative battery clamp, and leave it off for 5-10 minutes-resets the computer and forces it to relearn the sensors-if the problem continues, your idle air control or the throttle position sensor are prime suspects.
