04 Pacifica headlights burning out.

2004 Pacifica goes through headlights every 5 months. I just replaced both of them (with the high dollar bulbs) and I already have one out just 5 months later. I have looked for broken wires around the light assembly but have found nothing. This is the 3rd set in less than 2 years. Any ideas?

should I just check it with a voltmeter. What should it read with motor on 14 or so volts?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

i would suggest to look at the amount of charge your altinator is putting out, over charge is a cause of blowing headlights constantly, also check batt terminals as if they become disconnected at night when the lights are on and engine running that will send all the extra charge straight to the headlight and pop. otherwise you have just had a bad run.

SOURCE: battery goes dead on 2004 pacifica

There is obviously a draw from somewhere, and if your dealer doesn't have a mechanic who knows how to narrow it down to the circuit causing the problem, then I'd question there ability. With that said, when all else fails, you simply remove negative connection off battery first, then positive. Take a 12 volt test light & secure one end to the + clamp or connector, and the other end to the battery+ post. Now connect your negative back up to the battery as it was. If that test light, lights up, there is a draw. It will be brighter, the more draw there is. Your going to have some, just from your radio memory alone, but now comes the fun part. All you do is pull the fuses one at a time, if light goes out, or dim's you've found a draw. When you have a real hard one to narrow down, you make sure you know where they all go back to, whether by your map at fuse box, or your own notes, and you pull them all out, and light should go out for sure, if not, there is another circuit or panel, or relay drawing the current. If it goes out, you start putting them back in one at a time, and when the light comes back on bright, you found the circuit. Mark that one down, pull the fuse back out, light off, now do the rest that you haven't checked yet, just to see if there is more than one draw causing the problem, if there is, mark it down, pull it out & continue on until all done. Now you/they narrowed it down or isolated the circuit causing the problem.

SOURCE: 99 cutlass supreme headlight bulb replacement

Look at the top of the headlight assembly. There is a plastic panel on top of the assembly that is held in place by two plastic pins. Remove those pins by lifting the center of the pin and then pull out the pin. Remove the panel. Then you will find two small plastic levers that will lift about 1/2 inch. They do not come out but they will release two studs that secure the assembly. After the assembly is released, slide it forward to access the bulbs you need to replace. Installation is the reverse of these procedures.

Oil pressure switch location 04 crysler pacifica 3.5

It is impossible to replace have the dealer do it for 85 dollars. It is just above the oil filter between two other things and it is easy to replace if you rip the connector off instead of taking it off right. It took a repair shop 6 hours to replace it when I couldn't and it cost me 70 dollars money well spent. They told me 15 minutes

Change 04 envoy bulb

Headlight Replacement (Envoy)

Lift hood, at top of each headlight assembly look for two L-shaped tabs. Pull these tabs straight up, this will release the headlight assembly. Lift assembly forward to gain access to rear of assembly. There two rubber caps, the top one is for access to the low beam and the bottom for the high beam bulbs. Remove the appropriate cap, grasp bulb socket and turn CCW to release. Unplug bulb from socket by releasing catch on side of socket, install new bulb, DO NOT touch bulb glass with fingers. Reverse steps to re-assemble.

Constantly replacing headlights

Do not tear thru anything please just go to the dealership and replace the headlights! The Hyundai's headlights burn so hot that any aftermarket headlights will burn out quite quickly! I have purchased many different headlight bulbs for my Hyundai including the ultrabright lights and those just burned. Went to the dealer and purchased two headlights from them for $21.00 and they installed them!!!! Have not had a problem since! (that was over a year ago)
