Most newer model cars have a computer program that will not allow a car to be revved up past a set rpm while in park or neutral to protect the engine from damage. If it runs fine during normal driving operations then it is best to leave it alone.

Hello James,

If the engine revs up with no increase in speed, your clutch is slipping. Probably the reason the car was sold!

AC does not work

If it is low on gas the compressor will not engage. You can take one of the fill caps off and stick a pen in a press on the valve is gas escapes with pressure the system has gas. If not the system has to recharged and checked for leaks. You can check to see if the compressor is siezed by trying to turn the outer portion of the pulley by hand, if it turns the compressor is probably OK. (DON'T TRY THIS WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING)

1986 VW Golf 8 valve - Why does my car shake @ 1200 RPM ?

it could be that your clutch/pressure plate/flywheel is maybe out of balance. i think thats about the only thing, if your engine seems fine.
