2004 Ford Escape - Nov 02, 2013 (7:22 pm) Drove it last Tuesday. Everything fine. Thursday night horrible beeping noise, it was the radar detector flashing "Low Voltage". And dome light was flashing. Pulled the radar detector. Charged the battery the next day. Started that night. Wouldn't start the next day. Found that the radio was coming on after the car was shut off. It's the original Ford radio. Has a mind of its own. That is what was draining the battery. Have now pulled the fuse for the radio. But now, the cruise control sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. The dash lights where the radio is now flash on and off when the right turn signal is on. And the remote locks the doors, but will not arm the alarm. This happened in TWO DAYS. I don't know what's going on. Can you help me?
Remove battery and clean the posts of corosion , also the contacts from green gue , sand the contacts , re install . Clean main contact to starter also .
Testimonial: "The battery was drained because the radio was on. But it was manually shut off and the ignition was off. That is how the problem started."
SOURCE: My dome light and radio do not work. on my 2001 Ford Escape
Same problem here with radio dome light etc. it's the fuse #27 inside kick panel,it's hidden in right bottom corner 10amp.

This is what I have found out so far. No solution but a thesis for solution:
Radio turning on and off by itself without key in ignition
Need GEM module codes, not the PCM codes
Bad Ground?
Fuse box wet from windshield leak?
Is windshield leaking?
New GEM?
Ignition?
Bad Radio?
#27 fuse
GEM runs a lot of electrical things - could be causing the gremlins

All signs point to the Accessory Relay (NOT the Accessory Delay Relay). I replaced the Accessory Relay (Standard Part V13081 RY612. It cost me $15.61 with tax. On the 2004 Ford Escape, it is just to the right of the fuses in the fuse box by the driver's side seat. Three days and all good so far. It is well worth the price to see if this works for you like it worked for me.
