Firstly you need a wiring kit, you need to run a power wire from the battery to the amlifier with a fuse no more than 18 inches from the battery. You will then need to run an rca and trigger wire from the headunit to the amplifier. You then need a short power run to ground the amp that needs to have a secure attachment to the chassis

Looking for the audio amplifier in a Lexus LX470 1998. It is not under the seat as mentioned in the manual

If you can't find the audio amplifier under the seat as mentioned in the manual, there are a few other places you might want to check:
  1. Trunk area: Some Lexus LX470 models have the audio amplifier located in the trunk area, often mounted on the side panels or near the rear speakers.
  2. Behind the dashboard: In some vehicles, especially those with more complex audio systems, the amplifier may be located behind the dashboard or near the head unit. You may need to remove some panels to access it.
  3. Under the center console: Occasionally, car manufacturers install amplifiers under the center console or beneath other interior panels. This location keeps the amplifier hidden and can save space in the trunk or under the seats.
  4. Behind the glove compartment: Sometimes, especially in luxury vehicles like Lexus, the amplifier may be tucked away behind the glove compartment. Removing the glove compartment may give you access to the amplifier.
If you still can't locate the amplifier after checking these areas, you may need to consult with a professional car audio technician or refer to specific technical documentation for your vehicle model. They may have insights or access to resources that can help you pinpoint the exact location of the amplifier.

My local dealer says my battery in my 2001 Chevrolet Suburban continues to drain because of a draw on the battery. It was determined that the amplifier was not shutting off when vehicle was turned off. ...

Hi Bob, Joe got in first, because that would have been my advise exactly! Find the power feed to the amp and then do what Joe advised. (Of course the choice of where you fit the switch is yours, you don't have to have it by your seat but it makes sense if you're driving alone) Regards John

Had a radio installed it flicks or pops frm time to time but this maybe causing my fuse to pop and my car wont start. Had put a relay switch on about a month ago.helppp

Hi.

If there is popping sound and the fuse blows when the radio is flickering, then it is usually a short in the stereo wiring. The short results in excessive power draw and blows the main fuse. The radio must be removed to check the wiring behind. In some less common case the radio itself may be shorted inside becuse a defective PSU. If you have installed an amplifier check also that the problem is not the amplifier ordinary power draw, in that case the problem is fixed installing a capacitor in the amplifier power wiring.
