Car stop working without warning

Hi all, I have a 2003 nissan altima SL 2.5, when I'm driving the car at 40 to 60 milles per hour the engine star pulling like it is loosing power. most of the times when I reduce the speed the car just turn off. and also when I'm in a red ligth or when I stop for any reason completely the engine star jumping up until the car shut down, when I try to turn the car back on the car does it easily like nothing is wrong with it.I already changed the spark plugs, all the ignition coils, cam and crank position sensor and the car still having the same problem, the check engine ligth is OFF and also I put a computer to look for stored codes but is nothing there and becouse of that I have no idea what the problem cuold be since i don't have any info from the car's computer, everything looks like is working perfect but really the car is giving the problem that at just mention at the beginig, I was thiking it could be the MULTI -POINT ignition system but I'm tired to be trying and spending money wiht no results, if someone can help me I'll be more than happy to solve this problem. I already spent a lot of money and I still have that mechanic problem. please someone help me. Thank you very much..

There was a recall notice issued last year for this particular problem.
Contact your Nissan Dealer and they will fix the problem.

You have an internal mechanical problem, you need a skilled mechanic to diagnose.

SOURCE: car shut down

Fuel could be a possible problem.

Another thing to check is your exhaust system.

Simple method is to use a vacuum gauge on an engine vacuum port (a good one is to disconnect your brake booster vacuum supply line and connect your gauge in it's place) Vehicle must be running, make sure it is in park (or neutral if manual transmission and park brakes engaged)

Normal reading at engine idle should be around 17-20 inches of mercury for vacuum, the needle should sit steady with no, or very little "bouncing"

next what you do is a "snap throttle test" get a buddy to quickly step on the gas pedal (all the way down) and quickly release it, so just for a second! or if you can find the cable under the hood you can do it by hand yourself.

The needle should quickly drop to 1 or 2 inches of vacuum, sometimes zero (depending on the gauge) and then flick up to 22-25 inches and settle back down to normal idle reading.

Also try slowly stepping on the gas pedal as RPM increases engine vacuum should decrease.

If you get something other than what I said let me know and I can help you narrow down your problem. If you are within or pretty darn close to the numbers I said your engine is running decent and exhaust system is okay.

PS - there are a few other reasons your car could be doing this, give as many details as possible, and get a vacuum gauge and try that procedure. (Most vacuum gauges will come with a chart to show you that information, and sometimes solutions to readings that are not in the nominal/normal range.

I hope I can help you. Thanks

Replaced engine fuse box (with ipdm )on 2003 Nissan Altima SL and now the wipers will not turn off even with switch removed

With IPDM - intelligent power distribution module . Pull the front wiper relay and front wiper hi relay , see if they reset . If that doesn't work you'll need to take it to the dealer an have them reset with factory scan tool . Also ,sometimes new modules need to be programmed . Car suddenly shuts off

I have the same problem in my car. I too have a 2005 Nissan Altima. Mine seems to only happen when I go on long trips. (about an hour/hour and a half) When this happens, my sevice engine soon light will come on and if I turn off my car, I have to give it gas to turn back on. It seems after it has had a chance to cool off it is back to normal again and in a couple of days the engine light goes off. There was a recall in '07 about the crankshaft that states: IF THE INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL FROM THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS SO BRIEF THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) LOGIC DOES NOT HAVE TIME TO DIAGNOSE THE CONDITION, THE ENGINE MAY STOP RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AT A LOW SPEED INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. That may be looking into. I am going to do that in the next couple of weeks and ask them their opinion on why my car does what it is. I have looked and thought also it may be my feul pump. I will try to keep you posted.
