Change out the supports on your hood possibly. That should help with the alignment

Try adjusting the hinge at the base of the bonnet. Loosen the bolts slightly and lower the bonnet till it is just about near the fender and pull it side ways till you get the correct gap. Gently open the bonnet until you can get to the bolts and tighten them back up . Repeat until you have the bonnet in the desired position

SOURCE: I have a 1994 chevrolet c1500 truck ,how can i close the gap between the door and fender on passenger side ,i have tried to adjust fender by loosening bolts and shifting fender towards door but fender

The problem here is that when you move one thing evrything else has to move too. You can loosen the rad support which will let you pull the fender closer but then the driver's side fender is going to be closer and the hood is going to be closer. Normally there are shims at various locations on the fender, so I would look for those first. Check the bolts holding the fender to the firewall and see if there are any shims behind them pushing the fender out. These can be removed and reinserted between the fender and the rad support. This way the hood and the rest of the front end will stay in place. There is some play in the hood hinges. so you could repostion them a little if you moved the fender. This would likely result in having to move the hood latch some as well but it will move.

The bigger question is why do you have to do it in the first place. If it's the result of an accident, then perhaps you should just live with it. very rarely does everything go exactly back into place. Quite often close enough has to do unless you want to spend exorbident amounts of money. It's possible that the cab has been rearranged on the frame, either from an accident or changing cab mounts. If this is the case, then the best thing to do is loosen the cab mounts and reposition the cab to fill the gap. You'd never see 1/8" between a cab and the box so maybe measure and see what you have. Do the same under the truck at all four corners of the cab. Reposition it as necessary. This may be the best prospect unless there is a lot of extra room in the front clip to start moving everything around. Hope this helps.

Next loosen bolts to where you can just barely move hood (bothsides) oops befor you do that check hinges on hood make sure there not bent or sprunge if they are replace it or them which ever is the case. OK loosen bolts then pull hood down to the latch don't latch it, but try to line the stub up with latch, carefully raise it up enough to where you can reach under to tighten bolts,( at least one on each side) then rase it up and tighten rest of the bots good luck

  2. Remove the hood from the vehicle.

To install:
  1. Position the hood against the hinges, using the marks made previously on the hood to help with alignment.

ALIGNMENT

Hood
The hood is provided with up-and-down and side-to-side adjustments.

  1. To make the side-to-side adjustments:
    1. Loosen the hood attaching bolts and move the hood to the proper position, then tighten the attaching bolts.
    2. Repeat the procedure if necessary.

  2. To make the up-and-down adjustment (at the rear of the hood):
    1. Loosen the hood stop bolts.
    2. Using a screwdriver, turn the hood stop screws clockwise to lower the hood and counterclockwise to raise the hood. Hood is at the proper height when it is flush with the fenders.
    3. Tighten the hood stop bolts.
    4. Repeat the procedure if necessary.

Hood Latch
See Figure 4
  1. Make sure that the hood is properly aligned.
  2. Remove the hood latch attaching bolts. Move them as necessary to align with the latch dowel. Tighten the attaching bolts.
  3. Remove the locknut on the hood latch dowel, and turn the dowel clockwise to pull the hood tighter and counterclockwise to loosen it. The proper height is when the top of the hood is flush with the fenders.
  4. Tighten the dowel locknut after the proper adjustment has been obtained.

Trying to align 65 coupe doors after painting. Weather stripping not sealing front of both doors. Should i take it to a body shop or do it with help?

Most of the time I adjust the doors all the way to the front, supporting the door with a hang strap or a jack with a protector on it. As you first close the door be carefull as the front fenders can be back a bit anf the door and the fender might hit. Most big builds the doors are fitted with the front fenders off and them after the doors aree fitted. ( putting paper in the weather stip and setting the drag of the paper and them the fenders are fitted to match the doors them the hood is fitted to match the fenders, some times the fenders need adjusted some to fit the hood squarely.)

I have a 93 dodge van and the hood release is not letting me release the hood. It is extremely loose. How to get a better look at it or is it something that can be tightened

There are a couple of adjustments you can do. That is as long as you can get it open easily wth a second person. On each forward corner of the hood there is a support stop (two total). This adjustment is for the hood to fender alignment. The stops merely turn to adjust (they look like a plastic bolt). Thats a quick and easy. If the hood to fender alignment is good and you don't want to mess up that then the spring attached to the hood is adjustable. Use a very large flat blade screwdriver in the middle of the spring, that screws the center pin up and down. Make sure the latch on the core support is centered recieving the spring assembly.

Replacing front fender

My son went around a curve one night and hit a tree stump that was in the middle of the road. It put the front bumper under the truck, busted the radiator, the framing brace that supported the radiator and the A/C condenser. There was even wood in the frame from the impact. He also needed to replace a fender from a previous accident. After getting everything installed on the engine, they had a problem putting the fenders back on.

The passenger's side fender fit perfectly except where the hood was hitting in one spot. The fender was about 2 to 3 inches too high and the guys were threatening to take a hammer and beat it down. But after getting a stronger light and searching the frame of the truck from all angles, they found out there was still one bolt that needed to be removed. Once it was removed, the fender went on smoothly. They didn't get to use the hammer like they were threatening!

I have a 93 escort wagon , that i love... it was hit in an accident... i bought a liitle parts car an need to replace parts.... does anyone have auto body part on the manuel?

I have done this for years and am familiar with these cars. The first thing to do is cut in your parts, by that I mean paint the inside edges of your door, fender and hood before you install them. The hood is a no brainer. four bolts probably ten millimeter. The fender is not very hard either, remove headlight and side marker and front bumper. The door needs to be disconnected under the dash and the wires pulled out before removal. Install the door and adjust it till it fits and closes properly, then the fender by lining up the body line before tightning into place. Before putting in the bolts along the top install your hood and align it with the back of the cowl so that it is even gap all the way across then adjust fender gap and tighten down. This will work perfect if your inner structure has not been bent or knocked over. Be glad to help further if you need it
