Hello I had my door handle fixed on drivers side of a BMW x5 . Now when the door shuts it sounds like everything is loose and clanking. Any ideas on what it is. I've taken it back twice and noise is getting worse.

Hi, The drivers side exterior door handle is not working on our BMW X5, the handle appears to be loose and slightly sitting out further than it should be. Can anyone tell me what is the best proceedure to...

stop by your local auto parts store and ask for a trim removal tool. they will hook you up with the right stuff. Start by removing all the screws you see in the door panel, such as those holding the arm rest in place. taking the trim tool, feel around the outer edge of the door panel for the clips that hold it in place. when you find one, put the tool around it and pry outward until the clip comes out of the door. do this until you have the panel free.

Once the panel is off, you will be looking for a loose rod sitting inside the door that will need to be reconnected to the handle.

Good luck.

Both rear doors on 2005 x5 does not open neither from inside or outside even though the door knob goes up . what do I do ?

I have had this issue before when all parts seem to work. lay down in back seat and put a blanket over door panel where the latch holds the door shut and kick with your legs to force door loose. you still have to have someone hold the door handle in the open position. let me know if that helps

My bmw x5 door handle will not open even the door is unlocked,i can't get to the other door because they are locked.

How did you get the driver's door unlocked. Your other doors should unlock by hitting your key fob button twice. Sounds like the door handle came disconnected or broken.

I can't open my drivers side door to my 03' X5 3.0. When using keyless entry the other 3 drs open but the driver stays locked also manually tried inserting the key in the door and lifting the handle, but...

sounds to me as if the vacuum or electric actuator is either non -functional or linkage is hung up, loose, or stuck, maybe just needs lubrication or loose wire/hose. Open the door panel and do a visual check on its operation; the fact that your handle will not operate the door tells me that the linkage has fallen off or come loose... add to your question with a reply if this does not help you...MK

My x5 bmw driver door willnot open from outside

It sounds like the handle may be broken, or the linkage may be broken or disconnected

On the inside trim, you can remove screws (these screws may be covered by filler pieces or may be visible, or they may require you pry a plastic piece off that covers the screws) that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Pull back the weather seal and then you can gain access to the exterior handle
