Vss dead (veh, speed sensor)
A/T 700 codes are transmission errors. so is p17xxx
706 is trans mission range switch open circuited (bad switch or wires)
the scan codes never tell you what part is bad or what to replace.
it tells you ONLY what tests fail. called Monitors.
a Service tech, does this magic,. with tools and meters and gauges and special tests.
you can look up codes here.
http://engine-codes.com/

you can go to alldata.com (or get a real honda fsm book)
in the book it covers each code and now to test it and find the truth.
for example they will show you how to find P0501.
by looking at the VSS signal if good, the wires are bad.
if the signal is bad, the sender is bad. using a scope or meter.
good luck to you.

2010 Hyundai Accent. Check engine light with code P0501. Speed sensor. Known front right location. replaced sensor, cleared code, and check engine light goes on and same code of P0501. What gives?

" Known right front location "? It sounds like you changed something else, the speedometer sensor? The picture here is dreadful because it shows a turbo. The VSS is on the transmission and is involved with transmission gear changes.

Possible reasons why an on-board diagnostic II (OBDII) diagnostic problem code P0501 might show up are: Problem with the VSS sensor's cables or connections. The vehicle's speed sensor not functioning. The VSS voltage requirements get inconsistent because the voltage goes up and down faster than the PCM expects.

P0700 is just to tell you there is a trans code stored . P1794 is a vehicle speed sensor problem or output speed sensor problem depending on the trans type. P0501 is a body computer code for no vehicle speed signal.I would replace the output speed sensor.

P0501 code on 2004 dodge ram, how to repiar

Causes A P0501 DTC trouble code may be caused by one or more of the following:
  • The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is not reading (functioning) properly
  • There is a broken/frayed wire leading to the vehicle speed sensor
  • The vehicle's PCM is not correctly configured for the actual tire size on the vehicle
Possible Solutions The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.
Next, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the speed sensor. The location of the sensor depends on your vehicle. The sensor could be on the rear axle, transmission, or perhaps the wheel hub (brake) assembly.
If the wiring and connectors are OK, then check the voltage at the speed sensor. Again, the exact procedure wil depend on your make and model of vehicle.
If everything looks OK, replace the sensor.
