You don't have to touch the distributor while doing a timing chain. You didn't mention engine size but in this case it applys to all engines. You will find fairly good instructions in haynes manual for this job.

You have a timing chain that is good for the life of the engine. The only thing that could need replacing is the chain tensioner if it starts to make noise.

Fuse box diagram 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee


on my 1995 jgc the fuse box is all way on the right side of the dash you have to open the right door to open the small cover the diagram is on the back of the cover you removed to tell which circuit they control. the power distribution center out by the battery has the larger fuses in it and also what circuit they control. Aboutthe headlights fuses, the light system have several fuses located inthe Power Distribution Center and Fuse Block, for more details, Isuggest review the Section-8WL-Wiring-Diagrams (page 149 and next). In the page 140, you can find the Diagrams Index and the Components and location about this.

Also can review Jeep XJ Cherokee 2000 - Repair Manual or the XJ 2000 08w-Wiring-Diagram-Part-I (page 21 and next).

I'm confussed; you post your problem in the Jeep 1995 Grand Cherokee area, but say us that you have an Jeep Cherokee SE... :-S

For solve this subject, maybe you need review the fuse box in the correct Jeep model:
- Jeep Cherokee (Page 3-5 Fuse Block / Page 15-17 Power Distribution Center)
- Jeep Grand Cherokee (Page 7 Fuse Block / Page 9 Power Distribution Center)

Timing chain diagram


Just wrap the chain around the gears and lineup the dots. dot to dot and put them on. That's how it goes. The timing itself is not adjustable. It's controlled by the engines computer. It's that simple.

each gear has a mark on it from the factory that line up with a corrrsponding mark on the engine some times they are hard to find but if you look hard enough you will find them they all must line up there is no margin for error or it will not start like now good luck Lindz
