1998 BMW 328i with a red light on looks like a circle with 3 dash on both side

It means that your brakes are worn. REMEBER: If you are going to replace them yourself remeber to also buy the brake sensor witch will be located on the on the right or the left hand side Im not sure . . . .It is just a wire connected to a sensor that clip's on the outer brake pad.

there is a break in the connection on one of the wires on the pads find it and your problem will be solved also check the brake fluid level it nay be low enough to set the light
