Engine swap on honda 1998 accord f23a1 motors. new motor starts and idles great but when u try to give it more gas dies almost like timing is wrong any other ideas?

An IAC (idle air control) motor is designed to adjust the engine idle RPM speed by opening and closing an air bypass passage inside the throttle body. The car computer or ECM (electronic control module) receives information from various sensors and will output signals to adjust the IAC motor in or out to adjust engine idle speed by controlling engine idle air.
An IAC motor is highly susceptible to carbon and coking build up; if an IAC goes too long without cleaning it can cause stalling and poor idle quality. Some cars are designed with a large vacuum transfer hose that connects the intake manifold to the IAC (idle air control) motor. If a broken or dilapidated these vacuum lines can cause the engine to lose vacuum which will allow the engine to run rough and die. 
Inspect all engine and accessory vacuum lines to look for missing, torn or dilapidated lines and replace as needed. To check the IAC motor remove the unit, with the wires connected turn the key to the "on" position without starting the engine, the IAC should move in or out. 
If the IAC motor does nothing it has probably failed, replace it with a new unit and recheck system. Note: while the IAC motor is removed clean (use aerosol carburetor cleaner) the passages the IAC uses to control idle air speed.

Swapped motor 23l replaced with f23a now car idles but dies on acceleration. does computer need changed now that motors have been changed.

I would so so as the CPU for one engine will recognise different sensors for the other and will be confused because ot different settings. Have the fault codes read and if MAP/MAF sensors are indicated that is where I would start to solve the problem

An intake manifold leak could cause this, or a vacuum leak somewhere. Spray carb cleaner around the intake mounting. If you notice a difference in idle, the intake manifold gasket may be leaking. Idle control valve may be faulty? MAF sensor needs cleaning? Use a sensor-safe cleaner for that. Were any sensors or controls different on the two engines? Use the ones from your old engine, if any differences exist. Good luck.

Seems like the coolant temperature sensor is giving the computer erroneous readings, and it is not adjusting the fuel mixture properly for cold engine operations. You should have the check engine light on, indicating this malfunction. The idle fluctuations are normal. The engine is trying to die, from the improper cold mixture, and the computer (ECM), recognizing low idle speed, is sending it back up. Another possibilty is that the butterfly on the throttle body is not closing completely, to allow richer mixture needed for cold starts.

  • does the engine miss? bumps is a rythmic pattern?
  • an engine miss will appear to diminish at higher rpm due to centrifical force.
  • other possible problem broken or flat motor mount.
  • is the idle rough in reverse?
  • if not
  • open hood
  • start engine
  • Left foot on brake (hard)
  • start engine
  • watch engine as you select drive
  • still holding brake with left foot / throttle gas with right foot
  • does engine dramatically move?
  • if so replace motor mount on offending side
  • if not possible engine miss or transmission problems

1983 honda acc cold start wont stay running when cold idles rough

try checkin your idle air control. most of the time it is a vacuumn line going into intake.pull it off and if the car revs up dont worry, it wont hurt it. if it does simply put it back on, if it dies you have a bad vacumn.

98 accord dies while driving for no apparent reason

It could be a number of things. These include: faulty coil wire, bad alternator, bad torque converter, bad computer, the ignition relay is giving out, a dirty and stuck idle control valve. It should be one of these problems. How to tell which one it is is to follow a systematic approach and test each indiviaul item/circuit.
