The engine check light comes on when the CPU has found sensors outside set parameters and sets the engine in limp mode to reduce the chances of serious damage. Run codes to find what has happened and replace faulty sensors. Check oil levels and water levels at the radiator cap. When all is repaired then you will have to use the code reader again to reset the engine light

SOURCE: 2003 Audi A4 1.8T Check Engine light on

The CEL means there is a Diagnostic Fault Code stored in the Engine Control Unit. There are 1000's of DTC's, so you will need to have it read by a Code Reader. Auto Parts stores like Auto Zone, Pep Boys, perhaps even Advanced Auto often will read the code for you; but by law they cannot clear the codes. Many codes do not cause drivability problems, severe ones will trigger the ECU to run in a Limp Mode, which would require repair work before any trip longer than a few miles. Hope this is helpful.

SOURCE: Shaking engine, weak power, blinking check engine light

You have a bad coil pack, they usually crack from age and heat. It's best to replace them all. Check for a VW recall on this item.

Sounds like a dirty of faulty speed sensor. They can be removed and cleaned. Better off replacing. Do check the wires to the speed sensor. Trace wires from tranny to instrument cluster and make sure they are all in tact and clean.

Have a 2011 Chevy Cruze engine light is on with a arrow pointing down

The light is displayed when a noticeable reduction in your vehicles performance may occur. The vehicle may be driven at a reduced speed when reduced engine power light is on but acceleration and speed may be reduced. The performance may be reduced until the next time you drive your vehicle. If the light stays on see your dealer as soon as possible for diagnosis and repair. If you run out of gas, the light may be lit since there is no power.

While driving car the engine fan motor started running sounding real loud and then the dash lites began flashing on and off the battery lite came on the lite with wrench lite came on

Bit vague but I would start with the coolant. Is there any coolant in the system ? Might have caused an over-heat.
Which warning lights flashed apart from the battery ?
Check your water and oil (by "water" I mean coolant).
An over heating engine will cause all sorts of christmas tree lights to go beserk.

Catalyst not ready on 2003 yukon

keep driving it.

it takes time once the codes are cleared for all the system checks to take place. This was done by the auto manufacturers to help eliminate the check engine light cheaters for emissions testing. Now the vehicle needs to be driven for enough drive cycles to satisfy the engines computer that everything is working properly.

Lost power steering and brakes while turning, came back on.

You had a check light on the dash

Did you not check for codes that day or the next?

You STOP using ANY Vehicle ,with ANY Lights on the dash,
AFTER the motor is running, UNTIL you know what the codes are

The vehicle should have been at a shop the next day NOT USED

Can you tell me what is an OBDII scan tool? with the engine light on can it ruin my car

a scan tool is used by a tech to find problems that the computer has detected or shows.one way is it will turn on the check engine light and set a code to help find the area to look for the problem and the other is a tech can look at the data that the computer sees while the engine is running or the car is being driven with the scan tool hooked up to the car.depending on what the problem is with the car it could cause a problem with the car if its driven without being checked into and repaired.often the problem is something that is considered easy to repair.have it looked into

Rough idle vibrates and po171 code service engine soon. [email protected]

Hi, a Ford P0171 is a LEAN code for cylinder bank 1, and P0174 is a LEAN code for cylinder bank 2. These codes commonly occur on many Ford vehicles, and are set when the powertrain control module (PCM) sees the air/fuel mixture is running too lean (too much air, not enough fuel).
When the Check Engine Light comes on, either one of these codes, or both, may be found when a code reader or scan tool is plugged into the vehicle diagnostic connector. IF the vehicle is driven long enough, typically both codes will be set.
A P0171 lean code for bank 1 is the cylinder bank on the RIGHT (passenger) side of the engine on Ford vehicles with a V6 or V8 engine and rear-wheel drive.

A lean fuel condition may exist if the engine is sucking in too much air and/or the fuel system is not delivering enough fuel. If bad enough, a lean fuel condition may cause lean misfire, a rough idle, hesitation or stumble when accelerating, and/or poor engine performance.
Unmetered air can enter the engine through a vacuum leak, a dirty airflow sensor that is not reading airflow accurately, an EGR valve is not closing and is leaking exhaust into the intake manifold, an EGR valve that is allowing too much flow (because the EGR differential pressure sensor that monitors EGR flow is faulty and is under-reporting EGR flow).
If the problem is not enough fuel, the underling cause may be a weak fuel pump, restricted fuel filter, leaky fuel pressure regulator or dirty fuel injectors.
