Burning smell from cigarette lighter for 2006 jeep liberty I bought a car charger and put it in the cigarette lighter. I turned the charger while it was in the cigarette lighter it made a crack noise and it smelled like something burning and now doesn't work. Is it the fuse or do I need to have the lighter replaced?

SOURCE: 2006 jeep liberty cigarette lighter problem

its probably not the lighter itself, it's probably lost power. check the fuse for the cig lighter and see if blown. if it is, replace. if it blows immediately you have a dead short. if not, pay attention to when it stops working. could be a problem with whatever you are plugging in, or something else on the circuit

SOURCE: My child pushed in the cigarette lighter until

you could be lucky and the fuse blew, and it could be a burned wire, check the fuse panel and replace the fuse if blown, if it blows again you have to fix the wires, and possible the cigarette lighter if it got damaged

SOURCE: 2006 Jeep Wrangler cigarette lighter not working

Check for un-isulated connection on the hot wire lead. It might have been after-market but on mine the connection would short out, blowing a fuse. 1 inch of heat shrink tube fixed the problem.

40 Amp fuse keeps blowing immediately after I put it in and turn the key.

Possibly but more likely you've disturbed the wiring and it is now causing a short circuit

I have a 2006 jeep liberty and the cigarette lighter plug is working intermittently. How do I fix this

If you are plugging accessories into it, it is more likely the plug not gripping in the socket. If it is the removable cigarette lighter itself, get a new on one on eBay.

It looks like it is a known issue! Video says quick repair, but he is just replacing the fuse :>D

Fuse no. for cigarette lighter

Should be labeled CIGAR, but if not just check them all. Using a test lamp makes this easy.
