Of course, but first make sure the fan is getting power, pull the electrical connector off the engine coolant sensor and turn the key to run (do not start engine) and if fan circuit is active the fan will run by default. You will need a 12 volt test light to do the checks at the fan motor, about $4-5 at the auto part store. Other reasons for running hot are defective thermostat, leaking cylinder head gaskets and air pockets in the cooling system.
First check fuses, there are two fans if fitted with air con. The air con. fan only comes on with the air con. The engine radiator cooling fan comes on at operation tem., it is controlled by a censer switch on the radiator .If there is power to the switch and the switch is OK the fan motor is at fault.
Rather then rigging it , fix it right ! The blower motor could be bad . Testing the electrical circuit , checking current draw , voltage drop . etc.... Hooking up a light switch isn,t going to keep it on if parts are failing . More then likely the blower motor control processor is going bad . The blower motor is electronically controlled . HVAC Blower Motor Circuit
CHECK THE OTHER COOLING FAN FUSE AND RELAY.IF BOTH GOOD HOT WIRE COOLING FAN TO SEE IF FAN RUNS IF NOT YOU HAVE A BAD FAN MOTOR NEED TO REPLACE FAN MOTOR.IF FAN RUNS WHEN YOU HOT WIRE IT.FAN MOTOR WIRE CONNECTORS HAS A SHORT.
That is very vague. Have you checked the radiator, and when it is hot does the electric cooling fan come on? Try running the A/C and see if the cooling fan comes on. Does it run hot on the highway or just in city traffic? I need some more details to try and narrow it down. There are many things it could be. Low coolant, stuck thermostat, air in the cooling system, bad fan motor, fan motor relay (also known as fan switch), or temp sensor.
first,coolant .
check the coolant motor fan and fan relay. if coolant motor fan doesn't works, it can cause the car running hot or over heat.
check coolant
first check if the motor is bad.We ran a hot wire from hot to hot on battery. The fan kicked on.Ours was an inline fuse so ran wire from the positive wire on fan to a wire (hot) to key switch. This way you turn on the key and fan comes on
With the AC on, the fan will come on to help the ac codensor. Why your compressor keeps crapping out is definately something to look into. If your AC is overcharged the head pressures can get pretty high and if the oil is low, that would not help either.. Good Luck.
Try replaceing the engine fan controller, make sure there are no bugs in the radiator, there is another coolant sensor cost about $22.00 for it the fan control costs $40.00 bucks since you say it's ok when you have AC on my guess is the fan comes on for the ac and keeps it cool. You also may need a new fan motor, non AC side. sometimes the shats slip and the fan slips on the shaft of the motor an causes it not to turn fast enought.
