Brake light switch

I have a 1996 Dodge Avenger 2.5L V6 that is throwing code P0703. I replaced my brake light switch this past weekend, reset the check engine light, and it threw the code again. My brake lights work, and so does the brake light switch. Does anyone know what my issue could be?

Code p0703 refers to torque converter / brake switch B--circuit malfunction===causes--wiring--torque converter/ brake switch--ECM/TCM. The problem may not be in the brakes circuit but in the torque converter sensors.

Is there any way to check the torque converter sensors to see if that is the issue?

That area is controlled by the transmission control module so I suggest that it might be the best place to start

With all these codes present , without looking under the hood , I would think you have a wiring harness problem ! I have seen critters make nests in the engine compartment , they like to chew wiring ! Have seen air filter boxes full of dog food . Good luck your going to need it !

Check Engine light with code P0703

About $20 for a new brake light switch that can be installed in about 15 minutes or less usually, may be good insurance for a long distance drive. The code doesn't say it's a switch malfunction, the computer has seen a fault in the brake switch circuit and set the code-could just be a poor connection there.
More important, how do the brake lights work? I think I'd buy the switch or check the connector by the pedal at least. The computer may not let the cruise control work because of the code.

Pontic check engine code P0703

Hi the code P0703 is Brake switch B circuit malfunction. I`m not sure if this means the brake switch
is faulty or the wiring to it is faulty.
The brake switch is the best place to start ( but check the connections to the switch )
I hope i have been of help to you.

1996 dodge avenger 2.5l automatic. Code P0134. I already replaced the front 02 sensor but the light came back on. What other common problems should I be looking for?

Sometimes you need to disconect the battery for a few minutes for the the control module resets again, oh bye the way dont't forget to erase the codes with the OBDII. Try it!

Bad o2 sensor at back

LIKE I TELL MY CUSTOMERS...FOR STARTERS YOU NEED BRAKES BECAUSE IF IT DOESNT STOP IT DOESNT MATTER.IF THE O2 SENSOR IS BAD THAT WILL THROW OFF THE WHOLE EMMISSIONS SYSTEM.WHICH CAN CLOG YOU INJECTORS,RUIN YOUR PLUGS,CAUSE YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON ECT.YOUR COMPUTER KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM & THE CAR WONT RUN WELL UNTIL ITS FIXED.STEP 1- BRAKES,02 SENSOR,TUNE UP,OIL CHANGE....WHATEVER ELSE YOU NEED.I KNOW IT STINKS.,JUST DO IT ONCE & DO IT RIGHT.

Tail lights always on

I assume you mean the brake lights.  Check the brake light switch. Reach your hand up under the dash along the brake pedal shaft to find it.  When you disconnect it, your lights should go out.  If the lights go out, replace that switch and you will be good to go.
