2000 jaguar xk8 brake bar stays on unless I put my foot under brake pedal and pull up. Check rear lights message comes on also. Now when I use my right turn signal the check rear lights message flashes on and off with the blinker. On the way home the car went in to safe mode but it did not affect the performance. What is this all about?

Brake pedal return spring may be weak or brake light switch above pedal may need adjustment.

SOURCE: jaguar s-type restricted performance

I had the same problem. Restricted performance and running rough at 3000 RPM. I have an OBDII code reader and found that the problem was in the air mass flow sensor, which is just after the air filter. I pulled this out and found it was dirty and had butterfly wings in it. The last shop where I had the oil changed replaced the filter for me but put in the wrong size. Close but no cigar. Bought some *** Flow Sensor cleaner at auto store and fixed the problem. Get an OBDII reader with the ability to erase the codes. Comes in real handy.

My 2000 Forester tail lights wont go off unless I pull the fuse out of the fuse box. It runs down the battery if I leave the fuse in.

That most likely is the brake lights staying on because the brake light switch under dash is out of adjustment and the brake pedal is not touching the button to shut it off. Possibly the spring is disconnected that pulls the pedal up against the brake light switch button. Check this out.

1997 jaguar XK8 is stuck in park,it starts fine but cant move it out of park

Check your vin number and see if it is after A03098. Your MIL (malfunction indicator lamp) may be illuminated with a DTC P1571 trouble code. Your brake lights may be staying on or coming on without depressing the brake pedal.

These indicate that you need a revised/improved brake pedal switch assembly installed. Call your local dealer to see if they have a replacement program.

In the meantime, there is a plug on your shifter cover to the bottom right. This is your shift interlock override. Take the plug out and insert your key, depress the switch and shift out of park at the same time.

Car stalled at a light after running for 45 min. car restarted rough and sputtered badly, would not stay running unless gas pedal pumped continuously. car ran great until this problem

Sounds just like my experience with what turned out to be a bad Mass Air Flow meter. No warning, just very bad behavior from the engine, and heavy foot on throttle to get it going. Happened to my Wife. You can imagine the result when she got home. But thank goodness for cell phones!

2006 Kia Amanti... the brake lights stay on

If the brake lights stay on even if the car is turned off (or even if it is on) the first thing I would be checking is the brake pedal switch under the dash. Brake lights are activated when the brake pedal is depressed and comes off the switch or the return spring is broken or stretched not allowing it to fully return when foot is taken off the brake pedal.

Jaguar xk8 auto, won't come out of park

your brake switch, the one that activates rear brake lights has probably failed. Press brakes, have someone see if brake lights turn on, if no then it is a brake light switch problem.
